Brian Laundrie search: Items belonging to fugitive found at Florida park, says family lawyer
Michael Ruiz

5-6 minutes

EXCLUSIVE: North Port, Fla. – Chris and Roberta Laundrie, the parents of fugitive Brian Laundrie, ventured into Florida’s Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park early Wednesday morning, where Fox News Digital saw an officer apparently tell parents that law enforcement "might have found something."

Steven Bertolino, who represents the Laundrie family, confirmed to Fox News Digital that the Laundries informed law enforcement last night of their intentions to search the park and met officers there. Bertolino confirmed that while searching areas that Brian frequented, "some articles belonging to Brian were found."

Officers are now conducting a more thorough search of the area, Bertolino said. The park is now closed to the public, having reopened only Tuesday following a weeks-long search for the fugitive.

Brian Laundrie has been named a person of interest in the disappearance and subsequent homicide of his fiancee, Gabby Petito. The FBI later issued a warrant for his arrest on charges related to his unauthorized used of her bank card.

The Laundries, who have claimed their son went to Myakkahatchee on Sept. 13, the day he was last seen, left their North Port home just before 7:15 a.m. local time for the environmental park, where two men in hiking gear – including at least one who later identified himself as a law enforcement officer – began trailing behind them. The Laundries and one of the men appeared to discuss a discovery before the parents left the park, which was then closed to media and the public.

In a worldwide exclusive, video obtained by Fox News Digital shows the Laundries and the law enforcement officer huddling and speaking as the officer appears to show the couple an unknown discovery. The officer appeared to tell the parents: "I think we might have found something."

During the couple's time inside, Chris Laundrie could be seen continually moving in and out of areas of the brush. After a short while, he and Roberta Laundrie separated, with Chris and the two men moving into brush on the left side of the trail for approximately 12 minutes.

Chris returned without law enforcement, and the couple continued on. The Laundries later discovered a white bag and a dark-colored object after traveling through a patch of brambles at the edge of the brush at a clearing. They then could be seen putting the object into the bag and handing it over to the law enforcement officer shortly thereafter, who later took it from them.

On their way out of the park, the couple made a phone call and then received a call. There they were soon joined by the law enforcement officer, who could be seen patting Chris Laundrie's shoulder as he huddled with the couple.

The couple left the park at 8:45 a.m. and appeared emotional when confronted by protesters there.

Meanwhile, about a dozen uniformed law enforcement officers and approximately six people in plainclothes could be seen entering the park, with several police or unmarked vehicles and gators seen entering. The North Port Mobile Command Center arrived at the park shortly after 10:30 a.m. local time.

The Laundries returned home shortly thereafter. A spokesperson for North Port Police Department referred Fox News Digital to the FBI for comment. An FBI spokesperson did not immediately respond.

Weird. I hadn't read anything anywhere about the case for several days and not 30 minutes ago did a search on his name to see if there was anything new. This news hadn't hit yet.

Medical examiner called to the site of Brian Laundrie manhunt

BY VICTORIA ALBERT
OCTOBER 20, 2021 / 12:49 PM / CBS NEWS

The Sarasota County medical examiner has been called to the site of the Brian Laundrie manhunt, the coroner's office confirmed to CBS News. The news comes after items belonging to Brian Laundrie were found Wednesday morning near a trail he frequented in a Florida park, the Laundrie family attorney told CBS affiliate WTSP.

The manhunt for Laundrie, who is named a person of interest in the disappearance of his late fiancée Gabby Petito, has stretched on for weeks.

"Chris and Roberta Laundrie went to the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park this morning to search for Brian. The FBI and [North Port Police Department] were informed last night of Brian's parents' intentions and they met Chris and Roberta there this morning," attorney Steven Bertolino said in a text to WTSP. "After a brief search off a trail that Brian frequented some articles belonging to Brian were found."

Bertolino did not specify what items were found, but said authorities are now conducting a "more thorough" search of the area.

Petito, who was 22 at the time of her death, was reported missing on September 11, 10 days after Laundrie returned home from a cross-country trip without her. Her body was found on September 19 in Wyoming's Grand Teton National Park.

In mid-October, the Teton County coroner determined that Petito was strangled to death, and that the manner of death was a homicide. He said he believed that her body had been outside for three to four weeks before it was found.

Laundrie has not been charged in Petito's death. But a court in Wyoming issued an arrest warrant for him in late September, accusing him of engaging in the unauthorized use of a debit card to make unauthorized withdrawals of more than $1,000 between August 30 and September 1.

Petito's family has pleaded for weeks for Laundrie to turn himself in. Laundrie's parents have insisted they do not know where their son is and have not helped him evade detection.

Am I the only one that finds this very suspicious? After over a month of searching, the parents go to search and viola! They happen to find some items! Now either the parents didn't tell the searchers that this was old Brian's favorite trail, or they brought/planted these items or the search crew is the most incompetent group ever in the history of searches.

Didn't think he had the brains or grit to make an escape to some remote sleepy foreign destination..even WITH the help of his parents.

Too bad he didn't immediately take responsibility for his actions..as I said once before...he'd have been out and free by the time he was 35 at the latest.

Oh well.

Police contacted the parents to ask them to come to the site.

Highly suspicious.

Anything is possible in this case. Which is why I find it so interesting.

say their human remains detection K9 and the trainer are assisting NPPD in the search for #BrianLaundrie

I thought they found a body, but if they are still looking, I wonder if he called his parents and said he was going to kill himself or if he left a note, why think he is dead just because they found items?

I give up.
Hmmm............ is he daid yet?

In that area its possible they have found part of a body. A hand, a foot, ect. And the dogs are being called to search for the rest.

That happens a lot with missing persons in parks and forests. A dog comes out carrying a hand and the the search is on.

Do you know how hard it is to search Florida scrub land? We have 40 acres in N FL. We have trails that we've made through the mostly tree'd land and then we have a "hay field" area, a playground space, and a homesite. Here's a funny. We've owned the property nearly 19 years now. We built a house on it about 17 years ago. Not long after we built it and filled it with out possession we have a breakin and a lot of stuff was stolen (hence why the place is now Ft Knox). We've been finding items stolen every since. It's been a while but while clearing more land around the house this past week we found an old PlayStation 1 that was one of the items stolen. Yes we know it is ours because it had a memory disk thing in it with my handwriting on it. We've walked the area it was found thousands of times picking up fallen limbs, mowing, etc. And yet, here we are 16 years later finding it. Your guess is as good as mine, but it just proves that you can walk by, over, on stuff for years in this environment without finding it.

Add in animal depredation and wetland issues and the same thing is going to be even more true.

According to Daily Mail (it's a pita to bring anything over from there) the parents were spotted sending a box labeled 'Food kit" via UPS the other day.

It was an old box, not a new one. That is so made up. The Daily Mail was stalking these people and getting really close up photos. Since when do we here in the US convict, without trial and assumptions only, family members of potentially guilty people that haven't had their own trial, etc.?

Some damn, dumb, sick people in this world who bitch about Constitutional rights out of one side of their mouths and then turn around and gleefully do the same thing to people with the other side of their mouths.

No one is convicting anyone. Just reporting what is being reported.
And while the DM is not the most balanced rag around, they do report stuff our crooked journalists won't.
Stalking is their business.

How long will it take to confirm the identity of the human remains?
Depends on the state of the remains....how complete, how degraded, etc. The coroner probably had dental records in his back pocket when he showed up at the site, but :shr: .

Then, who knows what other games are being played behind the scenes. The authorities could hold onto the info for a while for their own reasons.

It all depends on the state the remains are found in and how complete they are. ie, is there a head and teeth

good condition could be same day. worse could be days and have to wait on dna.
