EQ Is it normal to hear a boom overhead during an EQ?

So, evidently there was a 2.8 earthquake just west of St Louis yesterday and people keep saying they heard a loud boom overhead at the same time things shook for what have been less than 15 seconds. Is that normal? I didn’t feel it, but some people near me did. Listen to what people are saying…. This is the news report…

I heard a boom one here in central Oklahoma from an earthquake. I think it 2015

Me too. Heard it twice though, one a year or two later. Cause we had a couple good shakes in our AO. 4.0 or there about.

And all of the quakes I've felt from living in California for over 35 years...none of them came with a boom. Besides the house making noises or the sounds of birds/dogs freaking out. No booms.

Yes. Quite frequent in California. Booms all the time.
