TRANS Ice scraper ready?

Thanks for the reminder. I need to get on that. It won’t be long now. Probably sometime in the next two weeks. Also...look at your scrapers and snow brushes. If you need a new one, seize the opportunity before everyone else does.

I did that and put my snow broom in the Suzuki this past weekend (looking at vehicles all day in winter, you HAVE to be ready. The cars I look at ain't gonna clean themselves).
But due to the certification class I've been doing all week my practical exam is tomorrow. Using my Suzuki as the inspect........
Soooooo, I just spent an hour taking everything out of the Suzuki for tomorrow's exam rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...........................which I get to put back! in it once the test is over.

I put my ice scraper and a can of spray de-ice in the car today. I find it amusing every year when my coworkers get suprized by the first frost. Have all of you made this simple prep? I hope so. I even keep a spare scraper in case one breaks.

OC bought me two new ice scrapers and a bottle of deicer this past weekend for my new to me equinox. One has a long handle and I can swivel the head in different directions.

On hand and well-used already,…the small one is good for frost/ice…the big one is mostly for snow. Then there’s the broom for when things gets a bit more serious…..

btw, did you all know that you can put your floor mat down near tires on snow and ice to help you out of a a slippery situation? And I always keep a coffee can full of rock salt …something I use more for walking really bad icy spots than to get my car rolling.

How's that Equinox doing? I know you're going to enjoy having it this winter!

FYI-The GM Chevy Equinox and GMC Terrain SUV production line was supposed to open last week of September. It's been shut down due to the chip shortage off and on all summer.

It's now going to restart November 2nd. Not holding my breath though....

I love my Nox! That said had I known I was going to end up with a Chevy I would have gone to the local chevy dealership instead of the Nissan dealership, and would have possibly have looked at the car the next size up from the Nox. I will, however, have this car a very long time. Only issue I've had so far is the battery died, got it replaced and all is well. Tires appear to be original so need to look at replacing them and soon.

Cousins hubby works for GM as a design engineer and has been laid off since late August.

Subaru used to be the unofficial car for Alaskans. Now it’s pickups…or an Equinox! I literally drove my 2007 off the showroom floor. 117,000 miles and good for at least that many more! Good car!

When I'm out and about I'm seeing a LOT of equinoxes on the road, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generation Nox's. I hear the terrain has more problems than the Nox. The main issue with the Nox is you suddenly experience a major drop in gas milage there's most probably a crack in the exhaust manifold, per the equinox group on FB.

The only other major problem with it is it's notorious for some solenoid unit going out on it and at the most inopportune times. Oh and other Nox owners have reported that if the key fob battery dies the car will automatically shut off. So off to the dealership we went for new fob batteries, and I have to say they are working much better now. I read that they corrected this issue with the third generation Nox's.

So far mine is not losing any oil which is the most common problem, again per the dealer and the group on FB. The previous owner took very good care of my Nox and I am trying to do the same.

I do have one tiny little rust spot that needs to be dealt with this winter on the inside of the drivers door at the bottom, both OC and I thought that this was weird.

Zounds! This will be my 14th Alaskan winter with this car…which is either the color of asphalt or chocolate, depending on the sunshine! I drive an awful lot of miles in all kinds of, well, pretty dicey conditions - always have; remind me to tell you about the pipeline construction years, lol - but this lil car treats me right. I hope you have as many good years with your vehicle. I’ve had lemons before but this one has been golden from day one.

I put the snow scraper/brush in a couple weeks ago. I'll add a sleeping bag when it gets really cold. After twenty-fives years of commuting in all kinds of miserable weather I promised myself when I retired I wasn't driving on snow/icy roads again. It'll be 8 years on 12/31/21 and so far I've kept that promise. I do drive in our little town but not on the highway. The small city where I worked and where I now shop does the world's worst job of clearing streets which is another reason to stay home.

No, I haven't made any winter preparations to my car. It's still in the 70s. I'll get to it this weekend. Thanks for the reminder.

Hard freeze forecast for tonight and tomorrow night so guess its time for those who've procrastinated. Got my car winter checked last week so I'm as set as I can be. Need to remember when the weather is extremely cold and I'm hibernating to start my car at least once a week and let it run for an hour to recharge the battery. Last two winters I didn't and I had to call for a jump start. My mechanic was not amused and scolded me!
