I am so terrible at canning peaches I've quit. I have started buying store-bought canned peaches but I have been avoiding the cans that have the pull-top lid openings. Are these cans weaker when it comes to longer than their use by date storage?

Rabbit... not in my experience. I bought some pull top cans of fruit cocktail, peaches and pears, all in 2014. We used the last of them last fall... I never did have a can failure. I do suspect they would be less tolerant of being dropped...

not necessarily just peaches or fruit - the pull tab tops are quite a bit weaker than the lid tops that are roll crimped - it's not only the weak spots where they are pre-notched for breaking away - the material and thickness is usually lower than a full lid top ....

been thinking about doing a paraffin dip on some of food that only is available in the pop tops these days ....

I still have several cans of "cream of..." and cans of tomato sauce that have the pop top lids, and all are still good after 3 yrs. I don't buy items in the pop tops, unless that's all I can get.

Neither here nor there.
The only problem we've had is that little tab breaking off and then trying to get the damned can opened since those lids sit deeper than a traditional non pop top lid.
