Planting How many of you plant by the moon? Does it matter?

I usually plant by the moon, but I've got the Spring antsies going on! Central Indiana here, and our sweet tater tubers jumped the gun and stared sprouting last month. What's a plant mama to do? They wanted to LIVE!

I watched the Rusted Gardner on Youtube and tried his method for getting slips ( laying the mature tuber half buried in soil) and wow. It worked in spades. Enough they started to get away from me, so I trimmed the worst offenders to root up in a jar of water....and boom. And more slips grew. So I need to get them in dirt asap, in some big Solo cups.....and maybe put them in the greenhouse, in a few days. Its WAY too early in Indiana to plant outside.

But....that Almanac sternly warns there are no good planting days for four or so more days. But....the jungle in my baby plant area is getting out of hand, and looking stressed! :( So....will there be serious repercussions if I'm a almanac calender rebel????? :)

LOL...gran taught me to combine both moon sign and moon phase to do my plantin, harvestin, preservin, n assorted other things...the combo can drive a newbie at it...down right insane...I've repeatedly said...thanks b I ain't trying to learn all of this at one time n get it to make sense...some yrs...works slicker than axel grease...other yrs it worse than January molasses...if it wasn't for seein the results for myself...not sure the headache of gettin it's to work right would be worth it...but...no squailin when we took the bottle was worth the learnin by itself...lol

an update to this older thread.

I read up on moon phases affecting plants water uptake, and found this little .mil spreadsheet creator.
(It will print out to html, but by highlighting it, you can direct copy into a spreadsheet program like Libreoffice.)

You can do up to 96 phases at a time, but you can also enter the start date, so it can go up to year 2100.

I'm going to piece together a spreadsheet thru 2031.

I see it as a handy tool to maximize food production now, and in the coming times.

Some info to go along with that.

I ignore the Zodiac calculations and just stick to the moon phases, for obvious reasons.
