99% sure I have it as I was directly exposed to someone who tested positive and I have been traveling by plane this last week. Here in Panama the positive rate is up to 30%! I have been triple vaxed and so far my main symptoms arent' bad..just sore throat, dry cough, slight headache and fatigue. DH is still asymptomatic.

My buddy is now emailing me in the afternoon as he has his laptop with him. He's still on O2. They have him on Remdesivir so at least they're treating him with something. He wants out of the hospital ASAP, he hates it there. He wants to go home and self treat with Ivermectin.
From every thing I've read for the last year or so, Remdesivir causes the kidneys to shut down. Then your lungs fill with fluid and they put you on a vent. That's how a lot of people die of covid in the ICU.

How is the situation in Panama regarding the availability of helpful medications?

Can you just go to the Pharmacy and ask for Ivermectin, Hydroxychloraquine, Doxycycline, Z-Pack, Budesonide, etc?

Remdesivir doesn't cause the renal failure, but is shouldn't be used if folks with chronic kidney disease or acute kidney injury because one of the non-active ingredients called SBECD can worsen chronic liver and kidney issues. You have to check for these prior to starting remdesivir.

Usually it's more like this:
Sick, lower BP and O2, placed on vent; lower O2 and bp causes kidney injury which about 30-40% of the time will eventually require dialysis (fluid retention is from kidney failure and being on multiple IV drips).

Very similar to a bacterial sepsis. Infection---shock---hypotension--multiple organ failure.

Just tested my son who has cold like symptoms. He is congested, sore throat, little coughing. He had a very low grade fever at first. He’s positive. He just got over what I assume was the Delta variant at the end of October when he, my daughter and myself all were very sick. He’s just recently recovered his sense of taste and smell. Four of his friends at school are all positive too. I got three emails from his school saying someone in his class tested positive. And one from my daughter’s school. It’s definitely spreading like wildfire here. Thankfully it seems much milder than Delta.

My nephew's wife had Covid and was in hospital for two weeks. She recovered with Remdisivir. I wouldn't take it myself knowing Ivermectin was better and less harmful. My buddy has no choice right now, but he seems to be in better spirits.

I found out the last day or two that upon first symptoms, flush your nasal cavity with hydrogen peroxide because Covid starts replicating in the nose and sinus a few days before traveling down into the lungs. Window of opportunity to stop it in it's tracks.

So much info that should have been out in the public two years ago.

On a side note, only one brother caught covid May/June of 2020 besides my nephew and his wife. My buddy in NYC is the only other person in my circle of friends that had it. No one in family or friends have died so far.

I just talked to my brother. His son's wife who was on Remdisivir is experiencing hair loss as a side effect.

I would have thought natural immunity from having it would protect him for more than 2 1/2 months.
What’s the shortest span of time between Covid cases for an individual have y’all heard of?

I would have thought the same. But I’m guessing since they’re probably different variants, it might not provide immunity? He literally just got his smell and taste back very recently. Maybe he was still not 100% from the last round. He’s feeling ok. Kind of run down and congested. We both really thought it must just be a cold since he just had covid so recently. No one else here with any symptoms except my Mom. And she was only sick for two days. She never tested and swears it wasn’t covid because she’s triple vaxxed. Sigh...

Enough variation that it has escape. Exact same reason vaccinated are getting it too.

What is the name of the antibody test? My primary care doctor told there is not an antibody test available. It is frustrating to not have access to antibody testing.

I just ran across this list of 87 EUA antibody tests. I guess your doctor doesn't read the FDA site...LOL!

Individual EUAs for Serology and Other Adaptive Immune Response Tests for SARS-CoV-2
For information on tests that have been revoked see Historical Information about Device Emergency Use Authorizations: In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD)
This table includes information about authorized SARS-CoV-2 serology/antibody tests and other adaptive immune response tests that have been authorized individually. These EUAs have been issued for each individual test with certain conditions of authorization required of the manufacturer and authorized laboratories.

For additional performance information about EUA authorized serology/antibody tests, please see the EUA Authorized Serology Test Performance page.

To see additional authorization documents, such as letters granting EUA amendments or revisions, and a list of other brand names authorized under a specific EUA, select the plus (+) button beside the "Date EUA Issued or Last Updated" for each EUA.

Authorized devices in the table below are assigned the QKO product code.

(I didn't cut & paste the table of results because it's 4 pages long!)

I hate seeing the numbers increase as they have. :(

Prayers ongoing for all those who have this scourge

It is sad to see people get sick but in this case it is good overall. Virtually everyone who leaves home and is out and about will be exposed to Omicron at some point. The good part is it is much milder than the other variants and will greatly boost herd immunity. I notice today the new cases have already started dropping in states hit hardest first. It seems to infect many very quickly and then decline very quickly because it is finding fewer and fewer susceptible to infection.

And hopefully it will impart a little immunity against the next pandemic.

Pretty much nonexistant. We are using just the normal over the counter meds. The hospitials are inundated with patients right now. If our symptoms worsen we will drive to Panama city (we're in the boonies pretty much with no decent hospitals) and stay with our daughter and her husband. There are modern hospitals there anyway. That said, we are three days in and so far it just feels like a cold or mild flu bug. We both ran low grade fevers yesterday. My throat is hoarse and I have a bit of a cough but not too bad. DH is achy as am I but that's about it right now so no complaints considering.
I expect our daughter and SIL will start seeing symptoms soon themselves as they hugged all over us when we came in at the airport. The positivity rate here in Panama is now up to 35%.

BTW I am 3x vaccinated. (2 astrazeneca and one Moderna) My DH has 2 astrazeneca is still waiting on his booster.
