Back in the day it was....

Cast iron double burner & an 11kg propane bottle for the group stuff. Cooked all sorts on it, Spag Bog, Chicken Curry , Corned Beef Hash, we'd have scouts from all over the place hooking up with our group just for the food

I never had a Trangia but I gifted DD the Trangia 27-6 UL set for Christmas a few years ago. Non-stick frying pan and anodized bowls on this version.

I also got her the factory fuel bottle FWIW. Didn't want to give up any of my Sigg bottles.

Found some photos on my PC.

My Dad passed away in 1996 but until a year ago, I had his Coleman two burner white gas stove he bought in the very early 70's IIRC.

I cleaned it with some carburetor cleaner and it runs just fine. I also had two gallons of 70's Coleman Fuel in the garage. The fuel lit and ran just fine. I have seen tests where the Coleman fuel loses 20% of it's energy after a couple of decades. The old Coleman fuel however ran clean with no smoke or gumming.

I would guess that regular gasoline would be totally useless after a decade or two.

Our family has been all over the Rockies and Wisconsin with this stove.

BTW - Those first generation Teflon, heavy aluminum Coleman griddles are fantastic. Makes a mess of bacon, eggs, and flapjacks in no time.

Apparently Stansport makes a propane generator assembly for the one pound propane bottles.
