CORONA Hospital worker shortage

My wife and I live near Rochester, Minnesota home of the world famous Mayo Clinic. Most folks outside the area don't know that there is another clinic not so famous there as well. The Olmsted Medical Center is the competitor. OMC takes care of the county dependent cases and picks up the slack for most things that require medical attention. Most of the babies of Somali immigrants are birthed there.
My wife is being treated for foot problems at OMC and was told she needed an operation to correct problems with her feet. A week ago we were informed that her podiatrist and surgeon had simply not showed up. No reason was given. All we were told was no one knew if or when he would be back. We were set up with another doctor and went in for the pre-op work up on Wednesday this week. My wife is very sociable and would have made a great extractor of information. She found that half of the medical staff had left after a mandate to be vaccinated was ordered. As there appeared to be a shortage of nurses and other staff as I sat in waiting areas. Where a post would have four or five there might be one on duty. Her doctor was booked solid through January 2022. A visit to Mayo for a check in with my oncologist revealed a similar situation. A lot of the folks I know from being treated there like me. I got a lot of "I could lose my job for saying this but..." from the ones I saw.
I'm not vaccinated and neither of us plan on it. We've received calls from county representatives telling (yes telling ) us we needed to set up counseling sessions to make sure we were properly informed about the vaccines and could be vaccinated.
I'm not normally a suspicious person but I gave them a polite "stand on your head and pound sand" response. Something is off.
I live in what we call the Soviet of Minnesota. Seems to me that is no longer a joke. It leave me wondering if I need to load my musket and meet up with my neighbors at the bridge.
