HONDA ATV

I saw a problem with a friends Honda ATV, and said note to self, get spare parts.

He lower arm unit the ball joint slipped out of the knuckle, because of wear. I think I better get a spare set. My machine is old, and I did price this lower arm unit but the dealer price is crazy, pricing out far over 300 per unit.

I know exactly where a parts machine is. I am pretty determined to keep this machine running, and avoid buying another one.

I just needed to be reminded.......other priorities dominated.

Many cars, trucks and even motorcycles today are shipped with little or no lubrication in many of the pivot points and sometimes even wheel bearings on some tow behind items! EPA and hasmat regulations (BS) . Its best to stop and inspect by taking it apart and in some cases get a grease fitting kit and instal a grease nipple it so you can pump some lube into it every now and then. Basically comes down to preventive maintenance, but you have to do it yourself.

Some how I lost my honda atv key over the summer......It was a real bummer. The dealer said I could get the number off the ignition cylinder and the lock smith would know how to cut a blank key, but I would have to buy two types of blanks for 20 bucks. The other was was to buy a $60 dollar ignition that came with two keys. So I bought the two key option and had them sent to a locksmith and of course their eyes glazed over when I mentioned what I wanted. It was a no go.

In the mean time I borrowed a friends key because I knew it worked. Days and weeks pass and I think needle files; I can cut new a new key my self. So I ordered a 5 dollar set and when they came I made a new key. It was not a close copy, being far from exact, but it turned the ignition cylinder and my atv is running again. :) Plus I saved $60,plus shipping.
