I said I would post this........this is a cool place!!! How did I miss this??

Kaluha

Dissolve in 2 cups boiling water 2 ounces of instant coffee (not freeze dryed)

Add 3 to 4 cups sugar (mom used 3)
Add one fifth of Vodka (mom said cheap as possible)
and 1/2 Vanilla Bean....cut bean in half then split lengthwise.

Put in 2 bottles (l piece of vanilla bean to each bottle)


Age l month

I make this every year and divide it into pretty jelly jars and give a jar of it and a jar of my special chocolate sauce for holiday gifts. I make a pretty foldover tag that suggests using a little of each on butter pecan ice cream.

You can also use rum instead of vodka to make Tia Maria. I just tapped into a new batch last night and it's SO nice!

We give this for presents so we usually make a big batch in September/October so it will be nice and ready for December.
