[help] When to Archive ?

As it looks right now we have about 18 pages of topics, dating back to May 26 or so.

Doesn't carrying that much baggage around slow down the load time? I'm not sure how it's configured for the "read" but I could imagine everytime we refresh or come back to the main page the system goes to retrieve (again) every single one of those pages--or it might go scanning through the index (again) for all pages.

If so, every day adds more pages and every day the response time would get slower...which is what I'm experiencing.

Shed some light on this, please...ADMINS.

Sorry Warren, missed this thread.

It has to do with BANDWIDTH more than anything else. The site host will be moving his system to another ISP shortly (in the next few days). We should notice a dramatic decrease in load-times then.

The software doesn't actually LOAD the earlier pages, it just checks the current tally, and divides by the post/page setting to give you the little numbers at the top of the pages.
