SCAM Heads up on Amazon orders...Phishing Scam

Fairwillows

Where I am supposed to be.
I received 2 legit (email addy info was wrong) looking emails from Amazon stating my 2 orders of $2000 and $2600 were placed. I checked my account, nothing was amiss. If you receive any such warnings, DO NOT CLICK on anything inside that email.

I use an empty gift card as my current method of payment. So far, I've dodged quite a few attempts to rob me.

Just thought I'd share.

I recommend almost never clicking links in email. And by almost never, I mean only when you have no other choice -- something that should come up only once or twice a year & only then with the absolute most caution. The scams are getting better all the time, I've seen some that are perfect (appearing) unless you look at the code behind it.

Look at the incoming email account for validation. I received an email that was supposedly from Capital One, but the email read customerserviceat@cipitalone.com which was the first giveaway. The second was someone had used my credit card to charge several thousands of dollars and they wanted this to verified.

Between phishing, spam and scams, the email gets full as does the cell phone. You can block the numbers and email accounts from being accepted. AT&T wireless does a pretty good job of weeding out the spam.

Every so often you have to give the phishing callers some heartburn. The last spam call that I received showed to be from a Texas number, but the person on the other end of the call spoke with an accent and not with a Mexican accent. Asked him what company he worked for and he said your bank and I asked him the name of the bank and he stopped talking and I said "AH nice try. Take my phone number off your call list and your number will be blocked." He hung up and I blocked the number. Got to have some fun ever so often.
