Battery light went on and shortly thereafter car died. Thanks be to God, was able to pull over safely a nd got towed to a repair shop. This was on Southern State Pkwy on Long Island, very heavily traveled at speeds around Warp Factor Eight. Anyway, this was about 0915. By 1130 my car was diagnosed, needed a new battery and alternator. So the mechanic opens her up, starts to work- and never returns. The managers tried to find another mech but no luck. The idiot had just got a $1 / hr raise last week. So I need to go back tomorrow to get it and drive back to Jersey. The managers were telling me about the miserable work ethics the younger guys have and I overheard another mechanic complaining that the previous crew left the place a mess- for about three or four days. Hard to get good help indeed.

Update- not just one but TWO wrong parts were ordered. The shop (think of a car rental place and put an 'm' in front) brought a mechanic in on his day off to fix it but he had to leave before what I HOPE is the correct part arrived. So stuck until tomorrow. Ten per cent off ain't enough for this.
That really sucks. I have been looking to add another mechanic for over 7 months and have only had one person apply, and he was from across the country.
Not sure if they ordered your alt wrong or they sent the wrong one but we've been having parts boxed wrong way too frequently. I assume manufacturers aren't finding quality help either.
