50 degrees in somewhat sunnier SW lower MI! We'll be pushing 90 by the end of the week, after yesterday's high of 57. But that's a late summer in Michigan, where the state's furnace starts to cough and sputter before the AC kicks in.

Ditto Michigan; lots of yellow in the fields right now. Red Delicious season is about a week and a half out. Though I hear we lost quite a few due to the hailstorms back in June.

78 This morning. Is has cooled off and the windows have been open for the last two nights. Two days in a row with the AC off.

Here in NE MS, we started out this morning at 59 degrees. It's 74 right now, with a high of 86 expected, today. Sunny skies. We haven't had to use the AC in 3 days!

Fall is great but the problem is it becomes winter.

I like winter too. I have never been one to dread it. The first snow is always comforting thing for me.

Yeah, the first snow is all right. But it's the 15th, or the 30th, or the 50th that wears on me.

Plus all that dark. Dark by six, dark until eight the next morning.

I spent 20 years in the Alaska interior. The sun was just visible over the horizon for just under 4 hours on the shortest day. Lived by head lamp a lot. You find ways to live with it and enjoy it because you sure ain’t gonna beat it. You gotta get out in it no matter the temps. I never had seasonal affective disorder or as some call it cabin fever. My wife made sure of that. She burned up the wood fast enough we cut in the winter too a lot. We have loaded up many times and go cut wood at -40 just to get out. We didn’t think nothing of it. You just do it.
