Anyone have exp with troubleshooting fault codes? Mine is loading up(too rich) and dyinh out. The tach goes wild but if you rev thru it it will trigger the check eng light and then it runs fine until you turn it off and CEL resets. The code I get is 42 indicating electronic spark control. weird...

On the 88 Chevy I had, the back 3 cyl. coil, 12 volt plug was comming apart. The mech. caught it after about the 15th time he had it . He replaced the plug an never had a problem after. The computer said the same thing yours does.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Rob. I lucked out and got a coupon for a free computer diagnostic from a local chevy dealership. If they can isolate the component, I can replace it.

The diagnostic indicated a bad coil and that the coil took the ignition module with it. Got the parts at Auto Zone ($55) and after r&r it runs swell!:)
