Celestial Gigantic Jet phenom captured over KS, perhaps furthest NO ever.

Gigantic jets are lightning flashes that connect the cloud to the ionosphere. Because of the low air density at high altitudes, the discharge propagates as blue then red streamers instead of hot white bolts.

Bucketlist capture early this morning over Kansas. After thousands of hours with TLE's , finally a Giagantic Jet- still in disbelief. It also may be the furthest north ever captured- lots of analysis to do on this one.

I remember seeing something like this when I was a kid it happened in the late 70s. Major freaking earthquake happened not long after.

Not to be confused with "sprites" apparently...
I thought so too at first, but I believe it is a jet.

Hmm. there's that uplift (?) over Topeka, and of course, the New Madrid isn't horribly far
..and My midsection has been in considerable pain for quite a while now, which among other things often signals violent geological twisting

We have pictograph's in the Southwest (Native American) and other parts of the world that show odd images similar to the top photo. Long ago there were events that took place and they were quite taken by it and people made drawings of what they seen.
