F350 auto Xmission blinks overdrive lt. on cold start

I have a Ford F350 that just has had the automatic transmission rebuild. Intend to get it back to the shop, but wonder if any of you know what the deal is here. When I start it up cold, the light, indicating when overdrive is Not engaged, on the end of the gearshift lever, blinks. When I put the transmission in "D" and the truck goes through the gears as I accelerate, it bangs into each gear. After about ten minutes, the shifting smoothes and the light on the shift lever goes out. I can then shift in or out of overdrive.

It's my understanding that the car has to be warmed up a bit before it will shift into overdrive. Now that slamming into gear is another matter. Better have it looked at by a trustworthy mechanic who is familiar with transmissions.

My father used to have one like that and it had the same problem. Turned out that the electrical/electronic module on the side of the tranny needed replacing. This was after the Ford dealer reamed him for a thousand plus dollar bill for a "transmission overhaul" as they termed it, and the light kept coming on and going off at will, the trans going from OD to regular drive at will and with no rhyme or reason.

Take it to a good independent trans shop and ask them about the module.
