It's -20 here this morning. One of mine, the one with the bear coat (double-coated Lab/Golden) went out to pee, feet got so cold in 1-2 minutes, she was trying to hold up all four, laid down in the snow, was floundering, and I didn't know if she was going to make it back into the house without me bundling up, going out and physically dragging "herself" inside.

Yep..she worked her way up to it with some coaching and got back inside, but even heavy coated, acclimated dogs (with so much fur between her toes you can barely find the pads), bear close monitoring in this stuff. The 24/7 dog door is officially locked down until we get weather at least above zero. The natives are restless, but safe. ;)

Any day outdoors is good, no matter the weather, particularly if you’ve a furry friend or two to join you!

….I’m still working on training the ferrets to walk with a leash/harness, but man!… they are slippery! ;).

Sweet pic of your fur babes :)

I have hesitated to walk back there for several years now since I have to cross private property to access the pipeline and the landowner prefers that I don't since they like to shoot. Took a chance this time and didn't run into anyone. He never posted any no trespassing signs either.

Around here, especially in town, it is against the law for your dog to be outside if the temps drop below freezing. Insanity! At least where I am it isn't enforced. My St's LOVE the cold and hate to have to come in.

New Hampshire, as primarily a conservative farming state, understands that Livestock Guardian Dogs are well adapted to the Winter weather. I believe there's a exemption for them in NH law.

Quig especially can barely handle being inside with the wood stove. He loves laying in a snowbank
