[ECON] Penney's catalogue service

To any of you who have ordered from the Penney's catalogue, what do you think of it? Last week, I ordered a $24.00 blouse because it was 30% off and it was pretty. When I got it, I still had to pay $24.00 and it was the wrong size. When I returned it, I only got $18.00 back. I was told it all had to do with shipping and taxes. It turns out that I paid a non-refundable $6.00 shipping even though I picked it up at the store.

Long ago we had learned that the catalogue suppliers have absolutely nothing to do with Penneys the store. We were really duped one time and it took me years to forgive them. I should have learned from that first experience and stayed away.

Anne,

If the wrong size was sent due to their error I would take it to the top but that is just me as it would be much more work than financially it was worth by the time you compose a letter or make the LD call collecting information on who is the top.

I order socks and underwear from JCP and always pick it up at the nearest store-even though it's decidedly inconvenient. If, after
inspection, everything is alright (and there have been times when it wasn't) I pay them.
Otherwise, back it goes.
I still get stuck with a transport charge, even though its coming from THEIR warehouse. when I do pick up orders.
That's one thing to consider when judging prices. Sort of like at the movie theatre.
I paid $4.50 for a matinee showing of "Pearl
Harbor" and $10.00 for popcorn and a soda (sigh). They get you one way or another...
