You love your Doctor and hate to say anything about the sanitary conditions..what do you do? I just do not want to put my head down on the pillow that someone else has had their head on..say like about fifty people or more! I am itching now just thinking about it! No I do not have lice. Yet.

Also my son was examined by an ear, nose and throat Doctor who just happened to have not exchanged a disposable probe. You do not want to say, "HEY there, GERMS!", do you? What is the etiquette for this type of situation?

It sounds as though you may be looking for a tactful way to handle this situation. How about pleasantly telling the nurse, "Oops! Someone forgot to change the pillow cover." -or- "Doctor, you need to get a clean probe."

If said respectfully with a smile I can't imagine anyone taking offense at this unless they're deliberately trying to save a few pennies at your family's expense. In that case you need to find a new doctor. Always keep in mind that YOU are your and your son's first line of defense.

Whatever you do, don't allow the exam to proceed until they've made the needed corrections. Remember, they work for you and need to earn your business.

I don't know about the laws in Florida but having an unsanitary exam room is not only unhealthy I bet it's also illegal.

Until later...

Thanks Follow Truth! I love the way you put that. It gives me a good way of introducing it to the healer people mannerly. Respectfully, and with a smile! I can say OOPs!

Good advice! And here I always thought I might have been bigger pest than normal because of having grown up with Nurse Mom. Glad to know I am not alone!

BIG pet peeve... ENT's who will first check the infected ear, then use the same tool to check the healthy ear. Double ear infections are the pits!
