ADMIN Did you end up banned from TB without notice? Here might be why (and what to do about it)

As you all know, we have an "infraction" system here. We copied it over from the old software. If one gets an infraction rather than a warning, "points" are assessed, which expire after a relatively short period. If one accumulates 10 "active" points, one goes to Timeout for the duration of the points. If one accumulates 20 active points, one gets "banned". (We call it "autoban.")

Anyway, it looks like there might be a bug in this software that doesn't set a person back to "active" upon expiration of the points. I'll need to check with the XenForo people about that.

In the meantime, if you got banned suddenly and without notice, email the registrar mailbox:

registrar@timebomb2000.com

Deena reads the inbox every few days and will bring any "hung" autobanned folks to the attention of the rest of us to be unbanned.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thank you Dennis! When I saw my "you are banned" notice yesterday and called Cardinal she said I had "19 infractions" (!)--and then she saw that was going back all the way to 2011!

If it had to happen, I'm glad it helps others!

(and I'm sorry I did it again--I'll fix that post)

Is that also affecting Time Out? I got an infraction last month and went directly to Time Out my last infraction was in 2017 and the one prior was 2012. I was confused if it was points from all time or a given amount of time.

Yeah. If you cross the 10 point threshold, the software stuffs you into Timeout until the points expire to under the threshold.

Chances are this software is going to work differently than the old. Maybe it's time to think about about updating the system, to what the software can/can't maintain?

I have enough problems getting banned here, no reason to get FB or twitter account just to get banned there.

Thanks for posting this, Dennis...

I got an infraction the other day and was searching all over to find out if I have others, and what the policy on that is...couldn’t find anything.

I, of course, have nothing to worry about since I'm an up standing, honest person who avoids scamming people and always pay my debts on time. :angl:

So, if I haven't had an infraction in the 13 1/2 years I've been here, do I get a gold star or something? Or am I just boring? Yeah, I know.
