Monkeys are smart and resourceful, if a group is on the run they will huddle together for warmth and may even find a warm place to hold up. The monkeys may have originated from a Island in SC (Morgan Island ) and may be some what accustom to winter temps .
Lots of ? yet

They would have to have been really lost if they were coming out of SC.

Or the truck they were riding in when it crashed.
A lot of monkeys used for medical research come from that island. population of monkeys averages around 400.
I thought I heard they were headed east bound, that's why I made the "the were lost comment".
You would never be east bound in PA coming from the Carolinas.

They were flown INTO NYC, then being taken to a lab *somewhere*. I heard to Florida, but this article doesn't mention that.

The second piece is a bit more worrisome.

The shipment of monkeys was en route to a CDC-approved quarantine facility after arriving Friday morning at New York’s Kennedy Airport from Mauritius, an Indian Ocean island nation, police said. The Atlanta-based CDC said the agency was providing “technical assistance” to state police in Pennsylvania.
...
The location of the quarantine facility and the type of research for which the monkeys were apparently destined weren’t clear, but cynomolgus monkeys are often used in medical studies. A 2015 paper posted on the website of the National Center for Biotechnology Information referred to them as the most widely used primate in preclinical toxicology studies.

Friday night Newswatch 16 spoke with Michelle Fallon of Danville, who saw the entire accident. She jumped into action; helping both drivers and the loads they were carrying.

"I walk up back on the hill and this guy tells me, 'Oh, he's hauling cats. I said, 'oh.' So I go over to look in the crate and there's this green cloth over it. So I peel it back, I stick my finger in there and go 'kitty, kitty.' It pops its head up and it's a monkey," Fallon said.

Fallon was contacted Saturday by the CDC and was told to monitor herself for any cold-like symptoms.

She shared the letter from the CDC with Newswatch 16; it reads in part that, "the surviving monkeys will be quarantined and will be monitored for infectious diseases for at least 31 days before their release."

The sad part is nobody recognized they were going to a lab. These living and loving creatures are bound to a destiny of torture and mistreatment. I have had 2 pet monkeys in my lifetime. They are loving creatures and we use them in horrible testing and experiments. These folks will answer to god. And no, I am not a liberal. I just love gods creatures more than most people.

I agree. It is hideous and all the other animals too.

They came from Africa. Now the CDC are monitoring people with cold-like symptoms. I believe I read that story on gateway pundit.

Some random thoughts that this event might’ve been staged to blame the next Ebola-like outbreak:

Danville is home to the Geisinger Medical Center, a huge hospital with many satellite locations throughout East-Central PA. Geisinger is run by woketards who would work hand-in-hand with the CDC (the front-line workers are great people, but admin is the problem). So, that could fit my woo scenario. They have the woketard hospital right there in Danville to go along with the CDC outbreak narrative.

The exit off Route 80 at Danville heading West does have a tight turning radius, tighter than most, so a speeding rig or dump truck could have issues on the exit there. The McDonald’s off that exit would perhaps be reason to exit since there are not many food options heading West into rural Central PA, but the monkey truck certainly wouldn’t be traveling South on any roads off that exit. Even the worst GPS would take you one more exit to Lewisburg to use Route 15 to avoid the back roads and mountain climb South of Danville.

Where was the monkey truck heading?!? Why didn’t the driver previously exit onto Interstate 81, back a little ways, if he were headed South? He is heading on Route 80 into an area literally called “the Wilds of Pennsylvania.” He is either headed West toward Ohio, or he is lost.

My love of woo finds ground here to grow…

My mother (still in the area) said they were headed to FLorida (from the TV/Paper?). Why the heck would they come to I81/I80 instead of 95 straight south?

CDC In Fear Of New Pandemic Following Escape Of Lab Monkeys Is Now Monitoring Americans for ‘Cold-Like Symptoms’

The CDC is now monitoring residents in Pennsylvania for “cold-like symptoms” following the escape of a number of lab monkeys last week.

Three monkeys escaped a crash last Friday along Route 54. The monkeys were later reportedly “humanely euthanized.”

The monkeys originated from Mauritius off the African coast.

WNEP reports:According to a CDC spokesperson, the monkeys were en route to a CDC-approved quarantine facility after landing Friday morning in New York. They are originally from Mauritius, a country in eastern Africa.

The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon, that’s when the three monkeys got free in the Danville area.

Police say the driver who was transporting the monkeys was charged in the crash.

Originally, state police told us four monkeys were on the loose.

As of Saturday afternoon, some people were still worried.

“Little monkeys, we got bears, we have coyotes, we have deer, you know all the time. A little 3-pound monkey doesn’t scare me, but why are they so concerned about it is what concerns me,” said Howie Lerch, Valley Township.

Friday night Newswatch 16 spoke with Michelle Fallon of Danville, who saw the entire accident. She jumped into action; helping both drivers and the loads they were carrying.

Yes. Makes you wonder if the Ebola outbreak may be planned to start in those pesky red counties in the middle of the state, doesn’t it?

I spent some time this AM trying to figure out what time Friday I was at the nearby rest stop on 80. I believe I was through before the crash.

We were driving home from a family visit for which we had all taken great care. But then my wife's [pick your adjectives and make them juicy] sister had quietly brought nonsymptomatic ("oh, no problem," was her response afterward) grandkids over when others in that house had just popped hot (SURPRISE!) Two other people have now tested positive. I'd like to punch her in the ****ing mouth.

I have some sniffles/congestion today too. Fun morning.

I just posted the below on the Q thread:

I did a quick search on monkeys in Mauritius, very interesting. They are one of quite a few animals that are not indigenous to Mauritius, but apparently thrived there after being introduced by sailors hundred of years ago. These are Macaque monkeys. The only indigenous mammals on Mauritius are - wait for it - bats.

A few links for those interested, I don't want to bog down this thread with extraneous info:

A truck and trailer carrying about 100 monkeys collided with a dump truck Friday afternoon along Route 54 just off Interstate 80 near Danville, Pennsylvania.

The CDC is now monitoring local residents for cold-like symptoms.
That’s very comforting considering the lab leak from Wuhan that just destroyed the global economy.
