I stumbled across these today while looking for sketchbook inspiration. I usually try not to post pics as large as these, but doing so reduces the amount of detail. Love the pocket idea and the cuffs and tennis shoe. So many ideas. If only my eyes were better and my patience longer! Thought y'all might enjoy seeing these, and maybe someone here could put them to use. :)

Enchanting!
Aren't they! I can remember one of my younger cousins really had a knack for embroidery, and did some of the most elaborate designs on the outer leg of her bell bottom jeans. Some people take it to the next level and while there's no way I could even come close to replicating their work, I sure can appreciate the craftsmanship and artistic design.

Once upon a time I dreamed of having embroidery as my hobby. Ugh. By the middle of college I no longer had time for it. Used to do a lot of white on white type stuff. Collars, pillow cases and sheets, lingerie. I don't know if I'd have the patience for it now.

It took me- for real- a year of picking up cross stitch project, to actually understanding how to read the charts and make the stitches. . . . so I bought a sewing machine to do all the purties for me LOL.
..but it's gorgeous, and I keep the craft room well supplied in hopes someday the fire will rekindle and I'll find myself engrossed in a project.

My mother was an accomplished seamstress, and when I was a young girl she made me some very pretty and quite unique dresses (mostly dresses) that she'd trim in embroidery. I had a beautiful red and white checked dress with a white collar that she embroidered cherries on it that I loved, and cried when I outgrew it. The little touches can add SO much to things, and if someone is so inclined and talented, really makes it special.

I had a friend who was a gifted artist in cross-stitch. Her designs and creations always spurred me to buy (yet another) beginner's kit. After so many U.F.O.s (Unfinished Objects), I wisely decided stitchery wasn't my bag. My eyes have never been good enough to really see what I was doing without getting out the magnifying lamp, etc. It wasn't something I ever got the hang of enough that I enjoyed it. But I sure appreciate the work of those who can do cross-stitch and embroidery.

I have pillow cases that my grandmother and aunt made me. They were well loved and well used and now are tucked away in acid free paper in my cedar chest.

And here is the quilt my mother made for my daughter for her wedding gift. It is queen size and a lot of time and love went into it.

I used to do a lot of embroidery. And I'll probably start doing bits and pieces again. But I'm also thinking about doing it mixed with fabric paints for some pieces. Right now it's just little pieces here and there.

You're very talented! And patient.
Oh, Pinecone, those aren't my work! Sure wish I had the talent and patience, but alas... I do not. I do know how to sew by machine quite well but never have been able to develop the knack of embroidery, cross-stitch, etc. Any sort of hand sewing is frustrating for me, with the exception of sewing down quilt bindings.

I found those photos above when I was rummaging around the internet looking for images/photos, etc., for my sketchbook inspiration folder. I do draw and paint and have for many years but had slacked off for a while. I have a folder of images from all over that I keep as inspiration and reference.

Ah, well thanks for sharing those incredible pieces. I'd love to have the talent to paint! Enjoy for me, too, please!
