EBOLA CRAZIEST FAD EVER

So, yesterday my grandson sees a news report that Ebola has been in (traveled through or being treated) in all but four states, those being Utah, Washington, Oregon and Arkansas, IIRC. By yesterday afternoon Seattle announces it's willing to accept and treat (at least) one Ebola patient. On this morning's news I hear that, not to be outdone by its close neighbor and sometimes rival, Oregon's OHSU and Legacy hospitals announce that they are willing to accept Ebola patients. Is this not the craziest PC "FAD" you ever heard of? Kind of like swallowing goldfish, except these are piranha! It's really true: Humanity is going to stupid itself into extinction.

I posted this as a separate thread since it's not directly Ebola news, just a personal observation. Not wanting to clutter up the Ebola thread with such.

I wonder if they bothered talking to the nurses, before Legacy said they would take Ebola patients. My mother was there with her stroke, and they are very short staffed. (And a few of them are psychopaths!)

Extinction? Probably not. Likely enough folks who've moved to areas of low-population density that some will survive.

If you had to have an apocalypse, one that ends up like "The Stand" is probably the best you could hope for.

Well, to be honest, it's their job to want to help the sick even if it means treating deadly diseases. They've taken an oath to do just that. If they think they are equipped to handle such patients, then I applaud them for stepping up to the plate. I doubt if every single nurse or hcw on site is thrilled about taking on a level 4 path patient, but if I had that disease I would be eternally grateful to have somewhere to go and be helped.

IT could be a matter of money? GOV promising money to these hospitals, universities, and state governments taking these infected?
