Please post replies to The Last Outpost here, so I can keep the original thread clean for the story.

If you've already posted a reply, please delete it, or move it here.

Thanks for reading the story, and please let me know what you think about it - It's VERY important for me to know if I'm doing a good job, becuase I'm considering Professionally Publishing several of my stories.

My first venture will be to convert all my stories to Adobe Acrobat PDF files and copy them to CD-ROM for sales. This could also include storied by other Authors at Frugal Squirrels on a Space-Available basis.

I'll keep you posted on the progress of that project.

Thanks,

Fleataxi

If I can make a suggestion about using the PDF format, to offer it also in HTML. I've downloaded several works in PDF and found them hard to read format-wise. Seems different monitor resolutions, sizes, etc, affect readability dramatically. By allowing browser use, the reader can change type size, and in affect of window sizing w/wrap, change line length for their preferred reading comfort.

Just a suggestion from one who spent many years in the book/ad typography profession.

[ed2add] the formats in which Baen Books present their ebooks might give ya some good ideas. http://www.baen.com/library/ and/or http://www.webscription.net/

Libertarian: I put "The Last Outpost" on the back burner, and am writing chapters at a furious pace on my main story "Allakaket Airlines" again at Frugal Squirrels.

I am now into the 3rd book in the Series. The First book, North to Alaska, describes the stranding and survival in North-Central Alaska (North of Denali) of a Midwestern middle-aged male hunter with some basic survival knowledge, a fanny pack full of emergency gear, a large bowie knife and an Ulu/Hatchet and a large amount of luck. That story ended after 250 pages or so, when I started book 2.

Book 2, Escape from the Rat Race describes his return to a small town in Alaska, and his return to the bush, and eventual marriage to the kid sister of the bush pilot that stranded him (he died in the crash). This book is around 500 pages long

Book 3, Allakaket Airlines, starts after the death of Roy, the main character in Book 1, and continues the story line with his son Ron, who exhibits a freakish ability to shoot very small groups at very long distances. So far, this book is almost 600 pages long.

Book 4 is in the works - probably switch with the death of Ron's Mom ( she was 20 years younger than her husband.)

Check out the Patriot Fiction Forum at Frugal Squirrels to read those stories. Books 1 and 2 are in another forum - Completed Works. I use the same handle there that I do here. You don't need to register to read, just to reply.
