excellent as always bro. one of the suggestions i would make would be a diesel vehicle and the supplies necessary to make bio-diesel. either that or look into a solar powered hydrogen generator and convert one or more of the vehicles to run on it. here's a link to such a set-up: http://www.unitednuclear.com/h2.htm

nothing is impossible bro, a natural disaster like the toba caldera eruption would easily return us to the dark ages. maybe 'unlikely' would be a better choice?

I was talking about manmade, I do not even venture to guess what Mother Nature has in store for us. Since the story is based more on "MANS" inability to deal, that is what "JOHN" is saying. A man made dark age is impossible.

Diesel would be great, but I think when it comes to vehicles, they are stuck with what they have. Fletch could probably buy a diesel, but where would they find a place to produce Bio? They live in a townhome area, that has rules and regulations, as well as a homeowners association. They will come up with silutions to transport problems in the future. There is one more character that lives in their building, we haven't met yet, soooooo............

huh?

not at all. most of the state is 'high desert', we're at 5700 feet here. there was frost on the windows this morning (as on most mornings). we got several feet of snow this winter also. highs in the summer are low 90's with low humidity. lows are in the 60's.

if you ever want to come out, let me know, i'd love to get together with you.

btw, fleataxi and eXe also live here, among other members.

I would love to come out there, especially to see all the members of our two favorite boards. Maybe next winter, I might try a trip, I have a buddy in Texas, so I might just make a serious Southwest swing trip, driving of course!

If only I had the budget of the movie "oil storm"! I could have done a better job than they did at FX. They had a real oppurtunity there and blew it. The small pox docufiction was very well done I thought, but this wasn't. I wish I was directing it, there was just more that should have been said, and there is no way the American people would be ok in a year, with $4.70 gallon gas. Give me a break!!!

This movie was close to my vision for Downgrade, but to be honest, I think They (FX) dropped the ball. If anything, it has lit a fire under my butt to get more chapters done, and quit wallowing in my personal problems, which I have done as of late. This is rediculous, they coulda done better.

Thanks for waiting patiently, this year has been a tumultous one! Everything I had planned for this story, kinda, well.................................happened for real. I was going to do a hurricane theme for the gulf, because a few years ago I read a study on the effects of a big one, and well, Katrina happened. There was also the fx movie, which kinda stole my thunder big time, the thing is, that movie could have been alot better, I wish I had had input on the script (Then again, giving me film and an audience might be........scary). Finally world events are moving faster than I thought they would, and some of those events, were sub parts of what I had been plannin gon writing. To be honest, I would rather they happen in a story than for real. Thanks, for giving me and this story a second chance. Out here in NETLAND, you build friendships with people that you never get to see in a real sense. Most of you will never fully know the utmost respect and admiration I have for you, and I am very appreciative to be able to post here and on the other boards I frequent. Thanks for humoring me!

It is we who are appreciative of your writing skills and story. And don't worry if world events are "beating you to the punch" regarding your story - please continue it the way you had originally intended. When you think about it, the "research" has already been done for you.:lol:

I never saw the TV movie on FX you are referring to (I was unable to watch it at the time, and haven't seen it being replayed...), so at least for me, if you incorporated it into 'Downgrade', it's be 'new' (again, at least for me haha).

Please keep up the great work, and bring us MORE! :)

I am the author and I am not aware of any copyright issues with this story. I stopped writing due to life issues, and I am doing this now because it is fun and I can’t seem to find stories I want to read about the apocalypse anymore! Thank you for reading this!

good to know there'll be a finished product but even better that RL settled down a tad for you.

the copyright issue I referred to was a couple of sites/forums tried to claim copyrights to anything anyone posted on those sites; that was about 3-4 years ago I think and of late, I've noticed many of those authors and their work popping up here on TB2K

Don't thank us for reading; I for one am always amazed at how generous people are about sharing their thoughts and stories with us so, Thank You.
