Team Clinton Preparing For All Out “Trump Wars”

Donald Trump has already proven he is willing to “go there” in regards to the Clintons. Last month after Hillary Clinton attempted to call out the Republican front-runner for what she deemed language that was offensive to women, Trump quickly reminded the country of Bill Clinton’s long history of abuses toward women, and Hillary’s repeated defense of her husband’s behavior.
It was the first significant skirmish in what could be an all-out battle between the billionaire businessman and the lifelong politician should the both of them secure their respective party’s nomination for the 2016 presidential race.
According to a Politico report, the DNC has already spent hundreds of thousands of dollars building a “Trump file” to be used against the New York real estate mogul in the General Election. Much of that file is said to be an updating of the “he’s a rich guy and doesn’t care about you” tactic used to great effect against Mitt Romney in 2012. [Hmmm! Does the Clinton campaign know something about Trump winning the general election ahead of the rest of us?]
Trump has already countered that kind of attack, though. He openly embraces his success and makes no apologies for it.
“I’m rich. I’m very-very rich.”
There is a certain, simple genius to that and if Team Clinton thinks the anti-rich approach will work given the Clintons themselves are worth north of a hundred million dollars made off such things as $100,000+ payments for a single speech, it will likely prove an uphill battle for them.
Despite the money spent preparing for Trump, and the belief by some they can paint him into the “not a nice guy” corner, many within the Hillary campaign are growing increasingly concerned as detailed in this comment given by a Clinton insider to Politico:
“Democrats knew what they were getting in 2008 with McCain; they knew early in 2012 they’d be getting Romney. You could plan for those guys. You can’t really plan for Trump yet because he’s so unpredictable.”
It was that unpredictability Trump made clear to Hillary Clinton when he so effectively counter-punched her attacks against him by bringing up Bill Clinton’s sordid past and long line of female victims of his behavior.
John McCain wouldn’t have done that. Mitt Romney wouldn’t have done that.
Donald Trump did though – and it worked.
Hillary attempted to give Trump the political version of a hard shove in the chest and he responded with a sharp left jab into the Hillary campaign’s face.
The message was quickly received. This guy is different than any previous Republican candidate in recent memory – namely he’s a lot tougher and has little fear of getting into a rumble. The Clinton campaign is quietly hoping Trump’s appeal to GOP voters will fade and he will ultimately fail to secure the nomination.
Team Hillary has realized that to take on Donald Trump head to head will require a war mentality.
