1.5 yr. cat has diarrhea, I got her two weeks ago friday. OverTheCounter wormed her but she still has the runs. Change in diet.

Any advice?

Many times wormers need to be repeated and it would greatly help if you got the medication from your vet -- Drontal is the proper all-around medicine. It is not expensive either. Do you really know the safety and effectiveness of what you are getting over the counter? There are many horror stories.

So bring your little love to the vet and get the proper medicine and also bring a stool sample.

It could be a parasite problem, or the change in diet, your kitty could have an intolerance to the food, or it could be another problem...

Good luck and please let us know how you make out. :)

My niece's vet told her to give her kittens canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie filling with seasoning). It worked great. Just a couple of days ago, her neighbor's puppies got diarrhea and she gave them the pumpkin and it worked for them as well.

Good suggestion! Libby's makes a pure pumpkin filling in a can that helps for both constipation and loose stools. It works for both problems. A small dollup of it daily can work wonders.

But still, -- in an animal so young as the kitten in question in this thread -- it is best to rule out the possibilities of intestinal parasites (and food intolerances) first, IMO. Or, if it is simply because of a new diet, the loose stool problem may resolve by itself.
