I haven't had a chance to check other websites, but today I received an email from Fillmore Containers that regular mouth canning lids are back in stock. The specific product is gold bulk canning lids - regular mouth. Wholesale Closures: Bulk Regular Mouth Canning Lids | Fillmore Container
A sleeve of 348 lids is $167.04, or .48 each.
Fillmore Container use to be my go-to place for bulk lids. In January of 2020 I paid .21 each. for a bulk order of regular lids from them.
Time to start shopping around.

Neither here nor there.
Thank you for the heads up, just placed an order with Berlin Packaging, theirs will be available starting tomorrow. They're also 21 cents a lid not 48 cents like Fillmore is charging.

Yes, I got a case of lids when COVID broke in February 2020. Paid 17 cents a lid, and winced a bit at that! My Y2k stash was all purchased in Canadian dollar stores, which in the late 90s meant paying 63 cents a box of lids! I finally ran out in 2013! I did also buy Tattler lids, and used some of them, but I had over 8,000 regular lids and 3000 wide mouth! Thank God, our kids had all left home by 2008, or I'd have run out shortly after that!

Good to hear Berlin packaging is at least rational, if not reasonable!

So this morning I went back to Fillmore to start doing some research. The bulk sleeves of 348 regular lids are no longer in stock. They do have in stock regular lids in sleeves of 175 for $73.50 (.42/ea) and wide lid in sleeves of 175 for $94.50 (.54/ea)

Uline: in boxes of 12, regular lids are $3.35 / box when you buy 6 or more (.28/ea), limit 10 boxes
wide lids are $4.85/box when you buy 6 or more (.40/ea) limit 2 boxes. (I know, if the limit is 2 boxes, why list the price break as 6 boxes?)

Berlin: back ordered. Stock expected in 7/2/21. Right now price is listed at .21/ea. No wide lids are listed.

My lids from Berlin will be here on Monday, they shipped late Thursday night. I'll be sure to report on the quality if there's any significant changes. I know someone who ordered from Uline and some of the lids came pre-rippled, she was not happy. I bought from Berlin last spring when I started seeing the large number of newbie canners in the one canning group I'm a member of, figuring that there'd be a run on lids, and I wasn't wrong.

Now good luck finding vinegar, lemon juice, and boxes of pectin for making jelly. I'm covered there, Thank God OC impulse bought extra boxes at the grocery store, along with citric acid, lime, and canning salt. Gotta love that man! When I told him about the vinegar shortage last week he picked up another bottle of apple cider flavored vinegar, he loves his bread and butter pickles and sweet pickle relish, and I use it for cowboy candy.

To get regular lids I had to buy them with the rings. Kerr lids and half of them were rejected as they had a lump in the seal. I'm afraid those lumps would compromise the seal. Don't remember the price but it wasn't cheap.

Fixing to do a test run on my lids. Got a lot of Tattlers and have had them stored in my conex for…a few years now. Had my pressure canner checked and want to do up my greens, some beef, lots of pork and hope for a bunch of salmon and moose. I’ll let ya know how it goes….

Just respect the headspace religiously... Tatters have zero tolerance for any siphoning. The regular lids sealing compound actually can seal around bits of food, and hold a seal (at least temporarily, and often permanently) - Tattlers won't seal with even the tiniest bit of grease, or food bits.

But with a bit of care, I've had excellent results with them. I've also tried it two ways - tightening them after removing from the canner, and not tightening. I saw zero difference in the seal percentage. I tighten the rings firmly (by hand), then back them off JUST until I feel the grip start to slip... but no more than a quarter turn. But that was at 1680 feet above sea level, and Kathy in FLA had no luck with the Tattlers near sea level.

I'm down below 300 feet now and will try them out later- I had all I could handle picking, snipping and canning 48 pints of beans today.

Thank you ST…I’m at about 32’ alt being so close to Cook Inlet, so I do want to check these. Will for sure keep your input in mind. My pressure gauge is off a bit so I’m glad I got it checked this year. Will be very careful on my work, keeping all this in mind.

What a treasure we have here with all of you experienced people! <3.

Found some lids at a small town wallyworld, yesterday.

Not the first time I've seen canning stuff at outlying stores, when the big ones are always out.
