BREAKING: UPS cancelling gun dealers’ accounts, destroying packages in transit
The shipping giant cites "ghost guns" as the reason for terminations.

United Parcel Service is terminating the accounts of gun dealers across the country. Any packages currently in the UPS system may be “seized and destroyed.”

In a letter sent to one Florida gun dealer, Ghost Firearms, UPS said they were terminating the account because they “may be violating” laws concerning homemade firearm parts.

“We write to inform you that UPS has learned that your company may be violating applicable laws concerning the shipment of “ghost guns” to unauthorized locations,” the letter states. “In light of our concern, UPS has determined that it will cancel your account, effective immediately.

Ghost’s owner, Joe Zatar was told all scheduled pickups will be cancelled, and that he cannot reopen another UPS account or ship anything from a UPS store or website.

He is most concerned about the packages already in the UPS system, which he may have already lost.

“Please note that any package found in the UPS system determined to have been tendered by GHOST FIREARMS may be seized and destroyed,” the letter states.

“I just shipped more than $30,000 worth of products,” he said.

Zatar immediately called his UPS sales rep, who said he had no idea the account was terminated.

Ghost Firearms sells uppers, lowers, handguards and OEM parts for a number of manufacturers. They also sell 80% receivers.

“We do not ship to states where they’re not allowed,” Zatar said. “We are in total compliance. We had ATF in here just two weeks ago, and they told us we were completely legal.”

Retail giant Brownells told their customers in a Facebook post Friday that they too were terminated by UPS.

“Heads up! UPS has made the decision to no longer accept Brownells packages,” the post states. “We are working to put an email together to send to customers who have their account defaulted to UPS, or who have open orders with UPS selected as the carrier.”

Brownells did not specify in their post the reason why UPS terminated their account, and they removed the post after a few hours.

UPS’ Media Relations personnel did not return calls or emails seeking comment for this story.

Brownells sued by state of New York over ‘ghost guns’

NEW YORK — Brownells, an Iowa gun distributor, was sued along with nine other gun distributors by the state of New York for their alleged role in “ghost gun” sales in the state on Wednesday.

Arm or Ally, LLC, 80 Percent Arms, 80P Freedom co., Glockstore, Indie Guns LLC, KM Tactical, Primary Arms LLC, Rainer Arms LLC, and Rockslide USA are the other distributors named in the lawsuit.

New York Attorney General Letitia James said in the lawsuit that the state is “grappling with a public health and safety crisis caused by gun violence.” James goes on to say that a “significant part of that crisis is attributable to an influx of homemade, unserialized guns, commonly known as ghost guns.

According to the lawsuit, the listed gun distributors allegedly sold gun parts called frames and receivers to residents of New York and did not follow state and federal laws while doing so. Frames and receivers are often used to build ‘ghost guns’ or guns that are untraceable for law enforcement.

Ghost guns are privately built and untraceable as the parts used to build them typically do not have serial numbers. These guns can be made from purchasable kits, parts like frames or receivers, or are 3D printed.

The lawsuit states that the gun distributors allegedly did not follow federal requirements of conducting background checks, adding serial numbers to the parts, or recording the sales into law enforcement databases.

A new rule made by the U.S. Department of Justice in April enhances regulation on parts used to build ghost guns. Those federal regulations include conducting background checks, adding serial numbers, and recording the sale of parts and ghost guns.

The ruling also broadened the definition of a firearm. The definition now includes any part, parts kit, etc. that can be turned into a functioning firearm. Ghost guns are now listed as firearms by the federal government due to this ruling. Previously, ghost guns and parts were not included in this definition, allowing their sales to go unregulated.

New York state law states that the possession and/or sale of unfinished frames or receivers is a felony. Utilizing these parts to create ‘ghost guns’ is also illegal under state law.

According to the lawsuit, Brownells allegedly failed to follow state and federal regulations which resulted in a man with an alleged extensive criminal history being able to purchase these parts, build a ghost gun, and shoot three people.

The lawsuit claims New York State investigators placed an undercover purchase around May 27, 2022 of a Polymer80 unfinished frame kit from the Brownells website. Brownells allegedly accepted the order and shipped the kit into Kings County, New York.

Brandon Glaski, resident of East Nassau, New York allegedly purchased unfinished frame kits from Brownells and received them around Dec. 5, 2017. About six months later law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at Glaski’s residence and discovered 17 unfinished frame kits.

Glaski had a prior felony conviction and should not have been able to purchase the kits per federal law, according to the lawsuit. The lawsuit also claims that some of the kits were purchased and shipped from Brownells’ website.
Brownells provided a statement on the lawsuit to WHO 13 Thursday morning:

“As one of the nation’s oldest, family-owned firearms retailers, Brownells has always taken its compliance obligations very seriously and we look forward to addressing these claims through the legal system.”

Listen up...AND LISTEN WELL.

When you have to have licenses and bonds and insurance, and stocks issued by the gvt.

You do what they say, or they pull your existence from reality.

They control the whole damned system.

I don't think UPS is doing this on there own. They may be being coerced by a govt agency. I worked for Fedex ground for quite a few years. There was one time that I was asked to be a witness while the LEOs searched a trailer for contraband. They were opening random packages as they were unloaded from of the trailer. Didn't find what they were looking for but...that action caused a interruption in the flow..Fedex and UPS dont't like flow problems.

I didn't know that UPS was in such a strong financial place that they could afford to drop customers like this. Hummm...maybe they should have talked to Dick's and Bed, Bath & Beyond before taking such a "moral" stance.

Local ups officials (harrison, arkansas to mountain home, arkansas) get quite gleeful at the aspect of confiscating guns. Witnessed firsthand. They didnt get the gun. Local business owner called the guy and told him to retrieve it before ups could take posession of pkg. Sender did not have an FFL.

Note: speaking of Officials, not reg drivers, etc.

Well, right now, it’s totally un-American and inconvenient - soon, as Dennis said, their will be enterprising entrepreneurs that will demonstrate real Yankee ingenuity and the spirit of high risk trade.

Many here have, no doubt, traveled or lived in other countries that have thriving grey markets.

Alternate markets free of excessive government control and interference which supply a demand.

Same thing will happen here…don’t think so?

Just wait until God given rights are crapped on and freedoms taken away and you really need something…your demand will be supplied and nothing will stop it…just like the failed war in drugs.

The war on drugs couldn’t do away with the demand even thought the danger and penalties to both seller and buyer were high…

Like laws against sex for money, you’re not going to stop it.

So, instead of going into a dirty truck stop looking for the love that dare not speak its name, you’ll sit in a filthy crapper stall at the Flying J truck stop breathing the fetid air until an unseen person comes in to ask what you want…

“No man, I don’t got any Colt 1911’s! But I can make you a good deal on a Hi-point carbine! Better than a Colt!”

Once again, as I said in Post #19: What if this event was sanctioned by the ATF and the Insurance companies? I'll add one after ruminating on this a bit- the bankers.

A corporation would have to be insane to keep or destroy other peoples mail (financial identifiers, established relationships between business owner and customers, invoices and checks), things they had paid for and expected to receive (gun parts, etc), or guns themselves.

In a normal world, Batman would be all over such a company like white on rice, and should be. The Insurance guys and the Financial Feebs should be too. What are they doing if there are any checks in that mail- keep them?

This smells like an inside job where the only loser is not UPS but the gun shop owner.
