VIDEO Boots on the ground thread - Southern Prepper 1

It repeats because it is a real trend seen by real people on the ground all over the place. Now if we had had the internet in 1988 or so when the Denver Oil Companies collapsed. you would have seen similar reports from Denver and other Big Oil Cities. But other places from San Francisco to Florida were either on an even keel or still booming from the recovery from the earlier recession.

People in Denver were "jingle mailing" their house keys back to the banks when the "balloon" mortgage payments tripled at the same time they lost their jobs. But many simply filled up moving vans and moved to the West Coast, Atlanta, or other growing markets.

Reports show that "this time" there is nowhere to "run," if you lose your job like I did in the 1982 recession and ended up in Denver in the first place. Not even going outside the US can escape a nearly worldwide supply chain collapse and economic difficulties.

The maintenance man says the replacement air filters for the furnace still haven't arrived.

A standard item, not exotic.

Ordered months ago. Prices are meaningless if there's nothing to buy

Thank you for starting this thread and keeping it up. I sent some of these to people I know but they still don't get it. I had my husband listen and he just shrugs. By the time people wake up it will be way to late.

Unfortunately most won't pay attention until it affects them personally. And with prices the way they are and reduced supply it's affecting us personally right now. That is why I tell people they might as well stock up the best that they can because even if the 'worst' doesn't happen everything we need will be more expensive next week and next month than it is today.

IMHO that's the most frustrating thing in the world. at SOME POINT you just have to realize that you did the best you could and they are either TOO LAZY to do anything about it or TOO STUPID to see that its about to run them over like a freight train on a penny.

The people I was talking about are very intelligent and not lazy at all. They just don't believe that things will get that bad.

I'm fortunate to work with a couple like-minded individuals.
We tried to gently suggest our bosses get a game plan EARLY in the covid mess. (Somebody MUST be there. Not essential but our worksite runs 24/7/365.)
Our boss laughed. He couldn't imagine what covid became.
Recently,
We were explaining to a like-minded new guy how simple our boss was. He came in the room and we respectfully suggested he buy some n95s and gloves for the coming monkeypox problem. We explained what it was because he hadn't heard of it. Then he laughed.

New guy was NOT impressed with his dismissive reaction.
He now understands why we work for:
Little dumb one.
His boss is big dumb one.

We watch hundreds of thousands of dollars squandered yearly. They won't spend a few dollars on more gloves and masks.

People will spend huge amounts of money on recreation but balk at a few dollars on contingency plans for worst case scenarios...

As many funerals in a week, as there used to be in a month... at 16:48 Video begins at that time.

"as many funerals in a week as there used to be in a month" --mathematically challenged here but does that mean a 400% increase?

I've been wondering where have all the workers gone? - and wondered if the dirty little secret isn't that they're sitting at home earning Bidenfunds but that they're just gone....................

He's also mentioned getting a lot of emails from people saying they, their spouse, or another family member has filled out hundreds of job applications and the places say "help wanted, no one wants to work" but they never call for an interview.

This pattern is starting to come up more and more, and Southern Prepper 1 is wondering if some places have to pretend to be hiring to get funds themselves and/or to give excuses to customers as to why service is so poor. When in reality they are not making enough money to hire people, so they act as if they want employees, they need more employees but they can't/won't hire people when they apply.

I have been in situations like this when working food service so I know it does happen. But I've never seen it on a massive scale before. It used to be what tended to happen right before a local franchise was sold or closed down all together.

There may be great truth here.
Running a company with a budget for "x" number of employees.

Actually having "x minus one" may cover some of the inflationary pressures.
Poor service to customers or bad hours& conditions for existing employees gets explained away.

I know some businesses around here are short because people can't pass a drug test. An owner is petrified to put a drug addled employee in a company vehicle.

18:54 minutes long.
In this video, he talks even more about the large number of people reporting they keep sending in resumes and even doing follow-up calls that are not getting any interviews. The entire video is a summary of what he has been seeing the last few months since he started this and is one of his best, in my opinion.
