Isn't ALL corn available for purchase in the US now---the Genetically Modified "Roundup-Ready" corn?

At least, that's what my health-food store (and the local Breadbecker's) told me, when I called about a YEAR ago, looking for plain old non-GMO corn meal or corn meal mix.

All of them said--ain't there. No such thing.

So "IF" I get some hens again (which I was considering) and "IF" I don't feed them the processed food (since obviously they're messing with it--reducing the protein content or something) -- is even feeding them cracked corn "safe"?
I was really talking about using say a can of sweet corn that I drain and freeze in the ice. I do feed my chickens scratch grains. Where I live, who knows what I see being sprayed on by crop dusters. Lucky the places immediately around me don't use planes. But, I'm sure the wind blows whatever they spray all over. The closes farm that I know that sprays is about 5 miles away. I've fed my chickens some scratch since I started having them. More if they don't have an acre to free range, but they tend to get a bit every day. I also give them things like chopped kale, fresh lettuce, etc. They ate my pumpkins and butternut squash, along with my tomatoes last year so they don't get full access to that area. ;)

But as for your question on is cracked corn safe? That I honestly have no idea. I'm not sure how many animals are finished on corn before processing. I do try to buy 100% pasture raised, but sometimes I have to settle for grain finish.

Update: That was fast - TODAY we got both stainless steel chicken runs, but then our supplier likes us and again I suspect the delivery company was the issue, not the supplier although any warehouse can make a mistake. I thought it was odd that what went missing for a week was the only part of the order made of steel (which is becoming very hard to get in Ireland quite valuable). We will be putting the chicken's runs in our courtyard behind 10-foot walls, that isn't totally safe but we decided it was best not to have either chickens or steel runs right out where anyone can see them. We have our Winter wood and turf out locked up there too.

Really??? You never heard of the movie, never saw the opening scene I referred to, but you have an informed opinion about what I wasn't really referring to?
Well being a teacher of the visually impaired, and having a (now fully-grown) blind son whom I homeschooled from the beginning, USING Braille books--I think, yes, I can pretty much assure you that an embossed Braille Bible is NOT something you can carry in your pocket.

Otherwise, from reading the synopsis of the movie, I found it quite interesting and might like to see it (in spite of your reaction to my post).

And yes, I agree we are probably not that far from people hunting and eating pet / stray cats (as in the opening scene of the movie)

Lots of cases of "no workers"---leads me to ask this question--

I've read here on TB2K about people surviving by selling Food Stamp cards---don't those cards have a limit? It used to be they had a re-loadable limit per so much time (having never used them I don't know if it's per week or per month)--so as prices go up, isn't that affecting those on food stamps as well, since they run out sooner?

I found most of it horrific, but this the most disturbing--at the 13:17 mark:

"A large sheriff's department out west: FEMA has given us 20,000 to 30,000 MRE's; they've also given us 6 large military generators. Both of these are very odd. We've no idea why we were given these items."

And no chance they could have refused those things? I'd want to know what was planned for my area that would make having them necessary and what they were going to charge me for them? Nothing from the man comes free.

But lack of maintenance on our nation’s railroad lines?

I see a mountain of lawsuits coming out of Missouri, where they just had that train derailment that killed all those people.

SouthernPrepper1 might end up being called to testify in lawsuits coming out of that accident…

The train struck a dump truck at a passive crossing. Dont think it had anything to do with maintenance.

I find his reports very enlightening as to what's happening all over this country, Canada and a few other countries. This is information from ordinary citizens I trust, not the fiction presented by the media. More and more I'm feeling that we're too far along the path of disaster to "turn things around". Some sort of crash seems inevitable. Scary stuff, but this information gives us the opportunity to mentally, physically and spiritually prepare ourselves to stay strong through whatever we face.

I get the daily email from NCRENEGADES and he is one of the many people posted there. He can go up to 20 minutes based on what he receives daily.

At this stage you can assume anything you need will be hard to get, and cost more than even a month ago. Worker shortages are everywhere and we are heading into systemic collapse named either recession or depression. I will throw in World War Three so Shane won't feel left out. :D

No U-Hauls in California.

No surprise there.

Everybody is using them to move out.
Friend's kids and family just scrammed out of California and moved to N. Vermont. Couldn't figure why they just didn't move back home to Minnesota, but that's kids for ya.

Anyway..you betcha. It's a one way ticket to the exit door.

Someone reported in saying they see way less trucks on the road....

I just drove down from the top of Oregon to mid-CA (13 hours) and saw roughly the same amount of trucks I always saw.

In both directions.

I can't say what's normal but from all my trips it seemed normal...but then again, I am paying more attention to them now.

Also, as far as finding U-Hauls in CA....(speaking about my Norcal area) they are sometimes hard to come by even before CV19. Off and on.

I live by a huge yard and a few smaller ones within some miles. Pre-CV19 most were one ways to OR, WA, TX, and ID.

I used to drink A LOT of beer with the manager.

The Walmart up in Warrenton, OR was fully stocked.

Not trying to say anything here special, just some boots on the ground.
