Boneheaded ISIS Threat: We Will Infect U.S. With Ebola
Here's one terror threat you can ignore

It seems every week there’s a new report about a threat ISIS has made against the United States and its allies. But of all the stories circulating about the terrorist group’s allegedly omnipotent reach, the most absurd has to be an ISIS plot to spread the Ebola virus in the U.S.

That’s the scheme one jihadi hatched recently on an official ISIS forum. But his plot to infect the group’s enemies is based entirely on boneheaded myths about the virus. In a post—titled “What Would It Take to Bring Ebola Into the U.S. and the ‘NATO Crusaders?’”—the writer, sounding like a scientifically challenged Dr. Evil, offers a list of ridiculous methods to transmit the deadly virus from Western Africa: “Take a bottle of Pepsi in a bag [with Ebola], and travel with it from Africa to the U.S. to pour the bottle into America’s water supply”; “infect ISIS soldiers with Ebola in Africa and have them travel to the U.S. to spread it across the country”; and “send Ebola in the mail like anthrax.”

As any expert will tell you, none of these diabolical plans could be carried out. Take the Pepsi bottle theory. “Growing it and then ‘bottling’ it is not feasible, as the virus would start to die off once it loses contact with a living reservoir or body fluid,” says Jack Chow, service professor of global health at Carnegie Mellon University, in an email. A virus like Ebola survives only through bodily fluids passed on from one person to another. “You can’t just take the virus and pour it in a reservoir, and expect everybody in the city to get sick,” says William Schaffner, an infectious disease specialist at Vanderbilt University.

Nor is it possible to send Ebola through the mail like anthrax. Whereas anthrax is a bacteria that can be transmitted via powder, Ebola is unlikely to live outside a host. “I don’t know that the virus can even survive in the mail,” says Schaffner.

Schaffner also believes it’s doubtful that an ISIS soldier could start an Ebola outbreak in the U.S. The most likely way to spread Ebola would be for an infected fighter to head to an emergency room without telling anyone he’s carrying the disease. That could potentially spread the virus to health care workers, Schaffner says, but even that scenario is far-fetched. Ebola symptoms can surface after just a couple days. By the time a would-be martyr reached the U.S., he’d probably be too ill to make it past customs. “Once the serious symptoms begin, the patient typically becomes too incapacitated and cannot go further,” Chow points out.

All of which isn’t to say that ISIS online forums don’t contain credible threats. Users associated with ISIS in the past month have posted genuinely plausible pipe bomb recipes for “lone wolf” attacks on the U.S. and threatened to kill Twitter employees for shutting down their accounts. But an Ebola attack? Unless ISIS recruits an expert from the Centers for Disease Control, we’re fine.

Given recent reports of ISIS fighters dying of Ebola in their "camps", it may be they've already set this in motion.

And with UP TO 21 day incubation period, they've got PLENTY of time to make it through US customs... which isn't looking for or testing incoming tourists for anything more than tobacco or booze anyway!

I haven't heard of these. Where is it documented?

It would be amazing to see this sweep across the middle east.

Somewhere in the thousand posts I've read in the past 24 hours. Sorry... it's recent, I KNOW I read it, but I can't begin to find it right now. Hopefully someone else's memory (or filing system!) is better than mine...

Seems it was 7 or 8 "ISIS members" who were either ill or dead from it...

seems to me there is plenty of time in a 2-21 day incubation period. Look what happens when they are unaware it is ebola, then think what a determined person could do already knowing that.

Besides, given the right protocols even if the infected could be determined and isolated quickly, if it happened in 100 different cities at the same time, think what a psychological impact that could have in this nation. This is a diff psych op and I think would have a lot more impact than two towers going down. That event took 3000 plus lives and wreaked havoc in this country stopping all air traffic and crashing the stock market.

I think it needs to be considered a valid option and should be prepared for accordingly. The fact that there are viewpoints trying to minimize this risk makes me think of psych ops narration like forum trolls trying to persuade people to one viewpoint or another as instructed by their puppet masters.

Maybe all the ISIS guys need to get dosed up with Ebola so they can be more effective warriors for allah.:D

Goodness before greatness.
This scenario is right out of the OPERATION ZOMBIE PROTOCOL MANUAL... If there is one.

I deleted the nationalreport.net post above.

It appears that we likely have one of our "circular references" going on here at this point. Looks like some of the related web site instances may be driven by the original nationalreport.net hoax site story.

100 different cities, even 10 different cities in crowded subway stations, large churches, etc. blowing themselves up spewing ebola all over would have the effect they are looking for.

This isn't the first time ISIS has talked about doing this.

It could possibly occur at the least expected.....nursing homes. Those residents on cumadin would really have a wild experience.

Right this minute isn't the best time to threaten, IMHO. People are still thinking it's not a big deal, it won't happen to them, it's always isolated. When it is revealed that people outside Duncan's family are dying, such as other school children or people he exposed on the airplane, it might become more real.

If they're taking it "deadly seriously", surely will we see the borders or air travel tightened? Yup, that's what I thought....

I thought ISIS existed to spread the wonderful peaceful faith of harmless Islam who respect women's rights and are generally A OK according to any point of view and would be in line for Nobel prizes and visits to the WH with Michelle doling out the goodies

“Take a bottle of Pepsi in a bag [with Ebola], and travel with it from Africa to the U.S. to pour the bottle into America’s water supply”; “infect ISIS soldiers with Ebola in Africa and have them travel to the U.S. to spread it across the country”; and “send Ebola in the mail like anthrax.”

You can't even take an unopened bottle of water or Pepsi through security. They really aren't very bright!

When was the last time they checked to make sure your tiny shampoo and conditioner bottles really were shampoo and conditioner?

I accidentely traveled with a knife and scissors in my bad several times after 9-11 without it ever being caught. So, i'm not putting much stock in the TSA saving us from anything. Besides, ever seen 12 Monkeys? They don't have to get through security. They just have to enter the airport and infect some people who will be getting on a plane later. Or for that matter, in a restaurant favored by Americans or a hotel.

I posted this info/article a few weeks ago and I pointed out the comments were all from a pro-ISIS Jihad forum, the particular poster was not too bright.

This particular scenario (coke bottle) did not come ISIS itself, although it was passed on to higher ups.

Ebola has been discussed among the mid-level leaders and even passed by al-Baghdadi, but last I saw, the answer had been NO. Although, he does lean towards biological because he can kill more people that way. Maybe he has changed his mind.

There have been a few ISIS die from what was thought might have been Ebola in Mosul (I posted about it back in August), but they were some of the new arrivals that had travelled to Iraq and had come from the infected areas of Africa. (a few were Boko Haram or had been helping them)

There have been threats made by ISIS about Ebola, I have posted them on several threads as they came along.

I haven't been keeping up with ISIS for a couple of weeks, so, who knows, like I said, maybe al-Baghdadi has changed his mind.

Ebola Virus Infecting ISIS Members

By joelleyden | September 29, 2014

By Israel News Agency Staff

Jerusalem — September 29, 2014 … Israeli security sources say that the deadly Ebola virus may be spreading among member of ISIS (Islamic State) in Syria. The report states that dozens of ISIS terrorists have come down with symptoms identical to the killer virus which has claimed over 6,574 victims in five West African countries – Senegal and Nigeria are the other two – with 3,091 deaths reported.

The UN mission to combat Ebola opened its headquarters today in Ghana, where it will co-ordinate aid for the accelerating West African crisis.

The spread of Ebola has spiraled into the worst-ever outbreak, as the World Health Organization says it is has associated more than 3,000 deaths to the disease, although that is likely an underestimate of the real toll. Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea have been hit hardest. Senegal and Nigeria have also been affected, but have not reported a new case in weeks.

“We know that ISIS has training camps in Africa and it is highly possible that this is where contact with the disease was made,” said Avi, a commercial, global, anti-terrorism consultant. “This would add new meaning to the US stating that “no boots would be on the ground as both missiles and Ebola penetrates one of the worst evils the world has ever known.”

The success of Islamic State (ISIS) could shape the thinking of African Islamists, said Andrew Muzonzini, Zimbabwe’s head of external intelligence and a member of the African Union’s Committee of Intelligence and Security Services of Africa (CISSA).

Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant ISISBilal Fawzi / AP Islamist gains in Iraq and Syria may inspire new tactics from groups in Africa.

“Given (Islamic State’s) brutality in pursuit of its cause, it would be prudent for us to brace ourselves for a new cadre-ship of extremist fanatics,” Muzonzini said at a CISSA conference in Nairobi.

African Islamist terror groups such as Nigeria’s Boko Haram have not made as dramatic an advance as Islamic State, which controls a wide region of Syria and Iraq. Both Boko Haram and ISIS are struggling for dominance in Africa.

How many of the women ISIS is selling may have contacted ebola from one of her rapist?

The TSA does not check the thousands of illegals entering the USA across our Southern border. I'm sure anyone coming in from the South could carry a bottle with ebola virus. We also know our utility systems including water are the weakest and most unportected links.

I guess if they are determined enough they will succeed, unless they out smart themselves and the infection kills them off. Talk about a best case scenario.
