CHAT Asking for some positive thoughts be sent my way. UPDATE: I PASSED!

2nd try at my CDL license tomorrow. Already passed pre-trip, having an issue with my alley docks. Should do ok tomorrow but if I pull an alley dock as my extra maneuver that could suck.

Anyway, if ya'll could send some positive vibes my way for tomorrow morning it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all.

Did you prepare? Did you do what it takes to earn it? Could you have done anything else? Good, now go out and claim it. A commercial driver must be confident. Head up. Smile at the insector. Strong hand shake and eye contact. Show 'em what you've got. We're behind you. :applaud:

I have trained a number of people for their CDL tests, and at least here in Minnesota, if you've already passed the pre-trip you're in tall cotton, so long as you come across as being firmly in control of your truck, and don't make any dangerous mistakes during the skills portion of the test. Everybody sweats the alley dock (I did too, back when), but it doesn't have to be perfect - I know several people who technically failed the alley dock maneuver, but passed anyway. The biggest factor, in my experience, is drawing a fair, common sense evaluator whose day/life is going well.

I'll be praying.

No sweat for you, you got this better than the next smokey and the bandit.....and believe it and in your skills.

Will say a prayer for you and a peterbilt. Or a freightliner. Or a international.

At least for you.

Good advice given above, be calm and practice gives confidence. Also like Dennis said, a longer trailer is easier.

I had a summer job hauling oil rigs. The first day they tested my backing skills hauling the derrick. It was hauled with a tractor at both ends, the rear one was towed backwards by the front one. They gave me the tail truck, in other words I had to drive backwards the whole trip. They went as fast as 40 MPH. Turning corners was the test. Flunking was going into the ditch, I never did, so I passed!

You can do it.
I learned with pretty much no training and driving around a parking lot backwards for hours.
I cheated a bit and use a single axle day cab with a back window and a empty 20' sealand container chassis.

Prayers and good luck!!

When I took my CDL test before becoming a school bus driver I took time to breath, go slow and check mirrors constantly.

You're going to do fine.
