Trying to figure out how much space and where I am planting these. Can they grow as Companion plants?

Soil is clay over packed sand. Will these do this like the weeds or should I do extra such as compost/topsoil and so forth?

Grasses love nitrogen and rich soil, especially the heavier grains.

I’d treat the sorghum about like sweet corn, for soil preference and spacing.

Quinoa grows like amaranth ?

Could almost broadcast, lightly, and let it take over a portion.

I did harvestcamaranth seed in my wild-foods-obsession-as-a-teenager years.

Lot of work for a quart.

But quite nutritious.

I would just plant the sorghum then after it comes up side dress it with compost. Sorghum is an accumulator. It's roots will pull nutrients straight out of that clay!.

Now for the quinoa. Mix it with 2x as much sand and wet it with an inoculation, like you do with clover or alfalfa. Not totally wet but enough that when you mix the sand and quinoa it's damp. Let it sit a bit then broadcast like grass. The sand helps you see where your broadcasting your stuffs.

Spray both with diluted nutrients on the leaves, so "drenching" every couple weeks, and side dressing with screened, complete compost as needed. Or you could make compost "tea" and just hose end spray that on everything.

Make sense? Yes/no?
