'94 Yukon radiator leak

Daughter's '94 Yukon has a leak......DH ran some sealant thru it, (twice).......better, but still leaking.

We can see where it's coming from up on the radiator, but is there a "glue" or something/stuff that will seal the hole? It's very tiny, but visibly "squirting"....

She's driving around with 2 of our grandbabies, so overheating is NOT a viable option ......arghhhhhhh.

Thanks to anyone replying! :)

If its an aluminum radiator with plastic tanks, you will have to replace it. The plastic tanks are basically just crimped onto the aluminum core. Aluminum does not like to be bent back and forth. So, I have looked in my area and found no one who will even try to repair them. This happened to my 95 Saturn last year. Good luck!

If you can see the leak and it is comming from the core area , not at junction of core and tanks, you can seal it externally with an epoxy made for aluminum.

Birdlady,

The bottom line is you will have to replace the radiator.

I've got a '94 Dodge Ram p-up that had been leaking coolant on the garage floor -sporadically for the last two months.

I replaced a clamp on the hose that helped stop the problem temporarilly, but the coolant started leaking again within the last two weeks or so.

This isn't a good situation if you have pets that have access to the garage. I have had to place a tall bucket under the leak ever since I noticed it to keep nosey noses off of the floor.

You also live in a warm climate state, I am assuming. My mechanic pointed out that current parts (my radiator in particular) have a lot of plastic components that eventually erode in the heat. The fact that you have gone 10 years on your current radiator obviously says something about the part itself.

I just had my radiator replaced today. The part cost $360. Labor was $105.

You're vehicle is probably paid off, so consider this your car payment of the year :)

My mechanic gave me a 5-year warranty on the part, so you could ask yours to do the same.

Thanks all for replies...
and Jeannie, you're right.......she had to finally replace the radiator......$470 for everything, and I'm not sure about warranty, but he's a neighbourhood business (the last 20 yrs at least), so we're not worried on that account.)

Thanks again.

PS Luckily they have no critters to lap up antifreeze.....and they used litter to soak it up.
