I agree that we shouldn’t be jumping on each other, but we also shouldn’t be jumping to conclusions either. I have not read anything official about this woman texting at the time of the crash, yet it has been charged right here by at least one member. There are many possible reasons for the crash and we need to wait for the facts to be uncovered before we assign blame, convict and sentence anyone.

One more thing … that unborn baby needs to be counted in the total dead. It was a child!

It was WORSE than texting.

The BITCH was DRUNK.

I do NOT apologize.

She MURDERED six people....no, seven, counting the unborn baby.

It must be aos Angeles thing. The actress Ann Heche, wife of Warren Beatty, also got drunk and ran her car into her/a? House at 90 mph and did the crispy critter routine, but just her sdlf. Seriously, maybe the jabs are causing psychotic breaks. Honestly, I don't know, but something has the demons acting out.

Watched a video of a group of the family members of the decreased mother and children. A woman appears on camera trying to garner sympathy for the driver who killed eveyone. It turns out she killed 2 ppl 17 years ago in a similar fashion. She was attention seeking and trying to make herself a victim. I just about fell off my seat. She made excuses for herself and the driver in this current incident then made people hug her. So inappropriate.

Vultures always come crawling out of the sewer for their own gain.

A family member tried to tell she was out of line especially at this time and place and the offending woman grabbed her in a bear hug.

The media focused on this ridiculous woman as if she was the reason for the gathering

LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón on Monday announced charges against Nicole Lorraine Linton, the 37-year-old nurse from Houston who police say ran a red light and plowed her speeding Mercedes through a busy intersection in Windsor Hills causing a deadly crash.

Six people were killed in the violent wreck, including a pregnant woman and her infant son, while Linton and eight others survived the crash.

Linton will be charged with 6 counts of murder and 5 counts of vehicular manslaughter, gross negligence, according to DA Gascón. If convicted, she faces 90 years to life in prison.

Linton was treated at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center following the fiery collision. The following day, she was released from the hospital and was subsequently arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter. Jail records show she was held on a $9 million bail at the Century Regional Detection that was initially set at $2 million.

Doesn't the prosecution have to prove prior intent to get a murder conviction?

Windsor Hills crash: Tears flow from suspect's eyes during first court appearance

LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón on Monday announced murder charges against Nicole Lorraine Linton, the 37-year-old nurse from Houston who police say ran a red light and plowed her speeding Mercedes through a busy intersection in Windsor Hills causing a deadly crash.

Six people were killed in the violent wreck at the intersection of S. La Brea Avenue and Slauson Avenue. The dead include 23-year-old Asheray Ryan, her almost-one-year-old son Alonzo, her unborn son and the father of that unborn child, as well as two others. Gascón said his office cannot file the manslaughter charge in a case involving an unborn child.

The DA said the case was still under investigation, and wouldn't discuss all of the details, but when asked if Linton was driving under the influence Gascón said, "There is no evidence of any alcohol use at this point."

Nicole Litton was charged with six counts of murder and five counts of gross vehicular manslaughter for her role in a fatal crash in Windsor Hills last Thursday.

At the site of the crash on S. La Brea and Slauson, a makeshift memorial continues to grow.

"I was on that street there," Latricia Tucker said, adding it happened, "right in front of my face."

Tucker says last Thursday she saw the speeding car and watched in shock as driver Linton crashed into two cars. One burst into flames. Had Tucker not stopped for a salad before getting to the intersection she believes she could have been killed.

Gascón says his office's "... preliminary investigation shows that Linton may have been traveling at approximately 90 miles an hour when she ran through a solid red light."

Linton was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter as soon as she got out of the hospital last week. Jail records show she was held on a $9 million bail at the Century Regional Detection that was initially set at $2 million.

Windsor Hills crash: Tears flow from suspect’s eyes during first court appearance

During a court appearance on Monday, tears could be seen rolling down crash suspect Nicole Linton's face. The suspect behind the wheel of the deadly crash was in a wheelchair with a brace on her arm due to injuries she sustained during the crash. This comes just days after she was treated at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.

During her first court appearance on Monday, tears could be seen rolling down Linton's face. The suspect behind the wheel of the deadly crash was in a wheelchair with a brace on her arm due to injuries she sustained during the crash. This comes just days after she was treated at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.

If convicted as charged, Linton faces up to 90 years to life in prison. She was not given bail at her hearing, so her next dates in court will involve a bail review. Linton will be back in front of a judge on August 15, then her arraignment will resume on October 26.

Tragedy strikes on Thursday afternoon: ‘It looks like a war zone’

On the afternoon of Aug. 4, crews with the Los Angeles County Fire Department were called to the intersection of La Brea and Slauson avenues on what was initially reported as a fire. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they discovered the horrific eight-vehicle crash.

Surveillance video that captured the fiery collision shows the driver of a Mercedes-Benz speeding through the intersection at what investigators estimate to be 90 mph. In addition, Linton did not appear to brake, authorities said.

Upon impact, Linton’s Mercedes-Benz and two other vehicles erupted into flames. The violent wreck came to a stop at the southwest corner of the intersection after at least one vehicle struck a gas station sign.

Bystanders tried to help those trapped but couldn't get close.

"The worst thing is we can help nobody because the fire was out of control," a witness told FOX 11.

Images from SkyFOX show at least two burned vehicles, one of which split in half after crashing into a pole.

One CHP officer described the crash scene to reporters on Thursday afternoon. "It almost looks like a war zone," he said.

"It was just really bad. It was just really, really graphic, really gruesome with people everywhere screaming," a witness told FOX 11.

What we know about the victims

The pregnant woman killed in the crash was identified by the Los Angeles County coroner's office as Asherey Ryan, 23, of Los Angeles. Her unborn child, listed by the coroner's office as "baby boy Ryan," was also counted among the deceased. Family members told FOX 11 that Ryan's infant son, Alonzo Quintero, was also killed. Ryan’s family also identified Asherey’s boyfriend, 24-year-old Reynold Lester, as a victim of the crash. He worked as a security guard and was reportedly driving his family to Ryan's appointment.

Ryan, who was eight and half months pregnant was reportedly on her way to a prenatal appointment.

Other victims include two women and a man whose identities have not been released pending notification of next of kin.

The California Highway Patrol reported a sixth victim was later found dead in the burned wreckage inside one of the vehicles.

An additional eight people were injured in the crash, including six minors and two adults, ranging in age from one to 33 years old. All the surviving victims were taken to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center where seven of the surviving victims were triaged, and one victim was admitted in fair condition, officials said.

Neither here nor there.
Okay, sounds like she was sober and driving 90mph and originally it said she had been in a fight with a boyfriend. Was the boyfriend one of the victims in this accident?

There was an article on Yahoo earlier this morning that stated she had a history of mental illness and had recently been involved in 13 other accidents. Went back to see if it was still there and it isn’t but if you type in her name along with “recent accidents“ the article will come up.

Has anything been mentioned so far about her job?

I’ve read that she was a travel nurse, which often means working far too many hours to be safe (my opinion as a former travel nurse). was she getting off of a night shift? Probably sleep-deprived, possibly fell asleep. I’ve also read about her getting in a fight with her boyfriend, but maybe sleep issues were also involved.

I’m surprised she was able to land a travel job, or any nursing job, with all those car accidents and history of mental health issues. Prescription meds show on pre-hire drug tests. Maybe it just wasn’t a thorough investigation pre-hire.

Being a nurse, I was wondering what her access to drugs were.

Didn't she test positive for cocaine a few days ago?

Nurses have access to all kinds of drugs, depending on what type of nursing they do. One example: Orthopedic and other surgical nurses would have access to multiple pain meds (opioids).

I have not read that she tested positive for cocaine.

New details surrounding a Houston-area nurse's deadly car crash last month in a Los Angeles neighborhood have emerged following a Friday motion by prosecutors.

According to court documents obtained by NBC Los Angeles, prosecutors with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office filed a motion opposing bail reduction and release for Nicole Linton, a 37-year-old nurse from Houston currently held on $9 million bail for her alleged engineering of a fiery high-speed car wreck that killed five people, including a pregnant woman, and caused eight injuries at an intersection in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Windsor Hills on August 4. Linton has been charged with the murder of six people, including the unborn fetus.

Linton's lawyers previously argued that their client, a traveling intensive care nurse then stationed at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center, lost consciousness in the moments before the crash. Remarks and details included in Friday's filing dispute these claims, citing data recorded by the electronic control unit (ECU) in Linton's car that registered her speed at 122 mph five seconds prior to the accident. The documents state that the ECU in Linton's Mercedes-Benz recorded her steering wheel at a level position and her foot pressed fully on the accelerator for at least five seconds prior to crashing into cars moving through the intersection. At the point of impact, Linton was traveling 130 mph, according to prosecutors' documents.

"This NASCAR-worthy performance flies in the face of the notion that she was unconscious or incapacitated,” the filing states.

Warning: Video contains disturbing footage of fatal crash

The prosecution's filing also states emergency room doctors who treated Linton in the immediate aftermath of the crash did not report any signs of seizure or impairment that would cause her to lose consciousness while driving. The filing comes as Linton's lawyers seek her release on bail and potential housing in a mental health treatment facility. The prosecution is arguing for her to remain in custody until her trial.

In addition to murder charges, Linton faces five counts of vehicular manslaughter after her Mercedes-Benz ran a red light and plowed into multiple cars at the intersection of La Brea and Slauson avenues about 10 miles south of downtown Los Angeles. The crash killed Asherey Ryan, 23, her 11-month-old son Alonzo Quintero and her fiancé Reynold Lester. Also killed in the collision were Ryan's unborn child, as well as Nateshia Lewis, 43, and Lynette Noble, 30.

August court documents filed by Linton's attorneys Halim Dhanidina and Jacqueline Sparagnafor detailed their client's history of mental illness and struggles with bipolar disorder. In May 2018 Linton was cited for disorderly conduct after jumping into a police squad car while suffering an acute panic attack. She was later committed to a psychiatric unit where she was prescribed medication to combat her bipolar disorder. Linton's attorneys maintain that she began refusing to take her medication after the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic, causing her mental health to gradually worsen in recent years. On the day of the accident Linton allegedly appeared naked during a FaceTime call with members of her family while on a lunch break from her work at the hospital, her attorneys claimed.

"In the days and hours leading up to the events of August 4, Nicole's behavior became increasingly frightening," Dhanidina and Sparagna stated.

A bail review hearing for Linton is scheduled in Los Angeles County court this week.
