Comments 404 not found (Index to Stories)

Every story I try to access in Denis' 'master story list' comes back 404 not found. How do I fix this?

The list was started a change, or two, ago on the board. Everyone needs to re-list their stories and the mods need to pull the old lists as updated. I re-did mine a few days ago.

Someone will need to update the posters that are no longer with us.

Ok

Go to the story and open it, open this page in another tab.

Put your cursor in the address bar at the top and click ONCE. It should highlight the whole thing.

Then, hit Control and C, that will copy it.

Go to the post in this thread and put the cursor where you want it to land.

In the top toolbar, about the middle, is a link looking icon. click that and it will open a dialogue box.

In that box there will be two lines. In the top line, click your cursor once and hit Control and V. That will paste the link in.

Go back to the original story and highlight the title and hit Control+C, that will copy it.

In the second line of that dialogue box, Control+V will paste it in. Then click "Insert".

That should give a live link with just the title of the story.

The other way is to go to this page, Member Stories.

Highlight the title of whatever thread you want to embed.

Do the Control+C.

Go to your post in this thread and Control+V. That will paste in the link with the text name.

Much easier IMO.

@FMJ You need to use the link tool (little chain thingee) to make the link appear as the written title.

It has two steps, inserting the link and writing in the text that you want the link to appear as.

There is a master story index in alphabetical order by author. It is pinned all the way up to the top of the page.

ADMIN - Stories Index, by author.

If you will do a post, in this format, I'll try to keep this updated and uncluttered. Stories from the Private section should be included. Right now, Ydderf's 404 thread is as good of a place as any. https://www.timebomb2000.com/xf/index.php?threads/404-not-found.599195/
