2005 jeep leaking oil!, but from where

It's a 2005 Jeep Cherikee (sp) 4.00 liter eng.

They have an oil leak that only leaks while going up mountains. Seems that as they talk about it it may be a lot of oil coming out..
They put the front up an the lift with the engine running and no leak.
They ran it around town and no leak.
They have it in the parking lot running and no leak.

THEY GO UP A MOUNTAIN AND A FEW HILLS AND IT LEAKS!

The have replaced the main oil seals and tranny gaskets, No bolts missing that may be leaking, all lines seem to be in place and not leaking.....Now, Does anyone have any ideas they could share? I told them that I would call them if I heard anything from you folks. Gotto go....I'll check in after 12PM..again thanks ahead of time....Steve

2005 Jeep

The oil is leaking down the back lower end of the eng onto the street. The intake gasket has been replaced and it was leaking down from the top down running back to the flywheel. All those problems wher taken care of but still leaks from the back down onto the road.....Steve

First, degrease the engine using a car was (to blast all of the oil off of the engine).

THen jack up the front end until it is approximately the angle of the hills you climb when it leaks oil
Check at the back of the valve cover... Money says you'll find it there. Chances are that an return hole is blocked, or the back end of the valve cover gasket is bad (or both)

Cleaning the engine thoroughly will enable you to see the leak without having to distinguish it from the dirtyoil already stuck to the engine.

also, make sure the PCV system is working.

Chances are, it is the oil return valley or the gasket.

Either is an easy fix. You have to take the valve cover off to clean and check the return holes anyway, so you might as well change the gasket at that time.

and now ...for the rest of the story....

It seems that all the information you guys
and gals gave helped...The valve cover was leaking from one of the corners when the oil pooled on the up hill climb. The mechanic said after he read all the notes he took the valve covers off and found you could only see where it was leaking by holding the cover up to the light and the rippled edge on the corner was bent just enough to cause the problem....It's fixed and the guy hasn't been back....He says thanks again....and likes time bomb2000 people.......I said YEAH..full agreement...
