Anne Heche’s family and friends had been hoping for a miracle following the Emmy-winning actor’s horrific car crash last Friday. It didn’t come, and her closest ones are making the difficult decision to take her off life support after she was pronounced brain dead. She is being kept on a ventilator until it’s determined whether any organs not damaged in the crash and subsequent fire can be donated.

“We want to thank everyone for their kind wishes and prayers for Anne’s recovery and thank the dedicated staff and wonderful nurses that cared for Anne at the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills Hospital in Los Angeles.

“Unfortunately, due to her accident, Anne Heche suffered a severe anoxic brain injury and remains in a coma, in critical condition. She is not expected to survive,” a rep for Heche’s family and friends told Deadline.

Anne Celeste Heche (/heɪtʃ/ HAYTCH;[1][2][3] born May 25, 1969) is an American actress who came to recognition portraying twins Vicky Hudson and Marley Love on the soap opera Another World (1987–1991), winning her a Daytime Emmy Award and two Soap Opera Digest Awards. She came to greater prominence in the late 1990s with roles in the crime drama film Donnie Brasco (1997), the disaster film Volcano (1997), the slasher film I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), the action comedy film Six Days, Seven Nights (1998), and the drama-thriller film Return to Paradise (1998).

Following her portrayal of Marion Crane in Gus Van Sant's horror remake film Psycho (1998), which earned her a Saturn Award nomination, Heche went on to have roles in many well-received independent films, such as the drama film Birth (2004), the sex comedy film Spread (2009), Cedar Rapids (2011), the drama film Rampart (2011), and the black comedy film Catfight (2016). She received acclaim for her role in the television film Gracie's Choice, which earned her a Primetime Emmy Award nomination, and for her work on Broadway, particularly Twentieth Century, for which she received a Tony Award nomination.

Aside from her film roles, Heche starred in the comedy drama television series Men in Trees (2006–08), Hung (2009–11), Save Me (2013), Aftermath (2016), and the military drama television series The Brave (2017).[4] She lent her voice to the animated television series The Legend of Korra (2014), where she voiced Suyin Beifong, and appeared as a contestant in the 29th season of Dancing with the Stars (2020).

Yeah, when I read that it was AN HOUR before they got the fire out and were able to extricate her, I figured smoke inhalation and respiratory burns were likely to be major. The odd thing is she appeared conscious and breathing on her own when they were loading her into the ambulance... must have been severely hypoxic due to carbon monoxide and all the plastics burning.

And here:

IIRC there's a 3-4 minute window before oxygen deprivation causes irreversible brain damage so, given her other injuries, this might really be for the best for her. I doubt we'll ever know how much of her is left in there, if anything.

I quite liked 6 days, 7 nights w/ H Ford

Sad outcome for her people for sure; I think she has 2, maybe 3 kids but don't follow celebs enough to know. . . . .

I thought that was every guys fantasy?

I think that might be a small and weird subset of men. I know that lesbian sex never did a thing for me and I can't think of any guys I know that were into watching it or excited by it.

My suspicion is that the supposed hetero male attraction to lesbian sex is mainly a media construct, grossly exxagerating the small subset I mentioned.

Well, yeah, you can be like that. But it was really an accident. One of my grandmothers had an aneurysm and died on the streetcar in Pittsburgh at the age of 53. You just never know. It could happen to anyone. Any time.
Yea, I know. kinda cold. Way I see it, she attempted(successfully, kinda) suicide, not caring who she might take with.
But, I could be wrong. It has happened before.

We don't know. But like I said, things happen. I also had an uncle who had moved to Texas with my aunt.

One day they're driving down the highway, and he pulls over and stops and says to my aunt, "This is it, honey."

He had had a fatal heart attack.

From what I've read so far, she suffered some sort of brain event before or during the crash, and then being stuck in the car for an hour while they extricated her finished her off.

I feel bad for the children she left behind. They will be in litigation for the rest of their lives for HER bad choices and probably lose everything she had intended to leave to them (if anything). A lifetime of stress, headaches, bad press that they never asked for.

If she handled her property/wealth properly then no, they won't be penniless. Actors are taught, when they join the actors union, to start a shell corporation to put their wealth into, so that they are protected in events such as this one.

But we do know she tested positive for Cocaine and Fentanyl. When mixed in combination, many people are found dead, dying or unconscious/non breathing or unconscious barely breathing. What was the level of toxins in her body at the time of testing?

Maybe she was not high as a kite. Maybe it was just still in her system. Maybe someone hijacked her car via computer and it drove on its own, her unable to stop it?

She was combative, on the gurney when she sat up like a zombie being wheeled to the ambulance. ARRRRGrowl.
You figure someone who just drove thru a house would be fully immobilized on a LBB Ccollar and CID, and would have a NRBM on if she had smoke inhalation. Granted BTLS was stating you do not have to immobilize every single patient now for minor trauma but hellfire the woman just made a drive thru of the house at a hundred mph. It is not the speed, it is the sudden stop. Can you imagine what the coup vs contra coup was?

That was a terrific film!

Sad that she had to go like that. My grandma dropped dead of a heart attack on a city street corner on the way to lunch with my mom. No one was with her or comforted her.

Oreally

Right from the start

contractual residuals from her movies will do them just fine.

Not necessarily. Her husband/advisors probably had all of their inheritance in trusts or foundations. Her insurance carrier will pay out the limit. They won't be able to sue and when against her estate if her financial advisors had been doing their jobs. Any of her estate not in a trust fund however will be free game and the family would be smart enough to just give it up and walk away.

People that have anything worth losing would be smart to learn about trust funds. They are extremely common and a way to also control how your estate is disbursed upon your passing. Wills are vulnerable. Trust funds a lot less so.

True but now the digging will start because MSM has been given an OK to dissect any celebrities life to put all their foibles, missteps, errors and plain old screw ups on display for the world; all in the hopes of getting a few more eyeballs and maybe peddling some ads.

No way to protect her family from that crap . . . .
