Something I wrote for another forum:
Let me describe her for you. Her normal appearance is slender but not boyish just under average height. While she can control most of her appearance, she cannot consciously control the color of her hair. When intense it goes almost clear, but when she gets excited it goes red, almost flaming red. This is why she often wears a hood. Also, when playing cards with Death, this tell makes it hard for her to bluff. Death does not have a lot of true friends; many try to use her or flee her. Death does not want to be feared or hated but does not mind being fought against. All she want is that when time comes for her to visit you is to be accepted with dignity

Here's what throws me into the 'grip of the grins'. When I open the 'alert' list, I look to see who posted an 'item'...and this is the part I see...but yes, the rest is there, it just doesn't 'catch my eye' like this part does...
I issued over a dozen warnings to people who JUST. KEPT. POSTING. POLITICAL HUMOR. Some of them kept conveniently forgetting that they weren’t supposed to after I PMd them. What would you have me do? Please be specific.
and be happy that your admin duties have led to a few, rare, precious hints-o-smiles in others.

I'm totally open to doing requests. But I do need a bit more info as to what you want. You see, the programming I use to 'photoshop' something is, now, 22 years old. It takes time and a steady hand...and a ton of patience...to get one done, decently.

Very well. As my favorite author said, "Never underestimate the power of human stupidity." I confess, as you well know Dennis, to having overstepped the bounds a time or two. The nice thing is we both admit to having made mistakes and have in the future tried to avoid them. I would only say the maybe something like a countdown would help. BUT a countdown with a time limit. Meaning, if someone, like myself, occasionally goes the wrong way, well, hey, we all do that. I do it every once in a while, myself. I do not deny that. But that is different from frequent violations. SO... a countdown. You have one violation this week. You get two more this month, then it is timeout. If they listen, fine. If violations continue despite warnings, then more active measures are to be taken. HOWEVER a time limit. Nobody should be held accountable for something said three years ago, no matter what the politically correct crowd has to say about it. BUT that's just my idea.
Do you realize DL, that you’re describing the infraction system to a “T”? Infractions (not warnings) include a “point assessment.” These points expire after a certain time. Most minor infractions are 1 or 3 points and last about a week. 10 points results in a trip to Timeout for the duration of the points. 20 points results in a banning for the same period.
This system has been in place for TWENTY YEARS.

Especially if we get on other boards with different rules. I'd guess no one intentionally breaks the rules, but I sometimes have to stop and think before I hit the 'post' button.
