SEOUL, May 13 (Yonhap) -- North Korea appears to be ready for its seventh nuclear test, an official at South Korea's presidential office said Friday.
Before a nuclear test, the North could test-launch ballistic missiles, the official said.
The government plans to draw up "very detailed action plans" about North Korea, and other regional and global issues ahead of an upcoming summit between President Yoon Suk-yeol and U.S. President Joe Biden, the official said.

For example, materials indicating the intentional use of a multidrug-resistant tuberculosis pathogen in 2020 to infect the population of the Slavyanoserbsky district of the LPR were examined.

The flyers, made in the form of counterfeit currency notes, were infected with the tuberculosis agent and distributed to minors in Stepovoe village. The organisers of this crime took into account the behaviour of children, who have a habit of "putting everything in their mouths" and taking food with unwashed hands.

The results of bacteriological studies have confirmed the resistance of the isolated bacteria to first- and second-line anti-TB drugs, meaning that the disease caused by them is much more difficult to treat and the cost of treatment is much higher.
According to the conclusion of the Lugansk Republican Sanitary and Epidemiological Station, "...the contamination of the notes was most likely carried out artificially, as the material contains extremely dangerous strains of the pathogen in concentrations capable of ensuring infection and development of the tuberculosis process...".

In his conclusion, the chief doctor of the Lugansk Republican TB Dispensary also notes that "...there are all signs of deliberate, man-made contamination of the flyers with highly pathogenic biomaterial...".

This is nothing but evil. This act in and of itself is casus belli for Russia to invade. Regardless of your personal feelings towards Russia or Ukraine, there is no denying that the facts on the ground lean more and more in Russia's favor and justificaiton every day.

JUST IN - Russia to cut power supply to Finland starting tomorrow.

Looks like they were preparing for this.

April 26, 2022
Finland restricts Russian power imports amid Ukraine conflict
Transmission capacity has been capped at 900MW in an effort to secure Finland's power system.

Finnish electricity grid operator Fingrid has reduced its electricity imports from Russia in an effort to secure Finland’s power system.

The decision was taken after an assessment of the risks to the country’s power system amid the changing international situation caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

As of 24 April, Fingrid has restricted its maximum transmission capacity from 1.3GW to 900MW.

In a statement, the company said: “Fingrid will restrict the transmission capacity in the cross-border connections to Russia as of 1am on 24 April, with the effect that the import capacity in Fingrid’s connections will be a maximum of 900MW instead of the current 1,300MW.

“In addition, Fingrid will restrict the transmission capacities of the connections to Russia during the commissioning tests for Olkiluoto III.

“The import capacity in the cross-border connections to Russia will be zero when tests are carried out at the Olkiluoto III plant.”

Fingrid added that it will notify the exact times of these restrictions and publish notice of them as Teollisuuden Voima’s testing programme is updated.

There are not, however, expected to be any changes to power exports to Russia, which will remain at 320MW.

The company also said that transmission capacities for other cross-border connections will remain the same.

Fingrid president and CEO Jukka Ruusunen said: “Fingrid is, for its part, prepared for that the electricity imports from Russia will end.

“Finland is not dependent on electricity imported from Russia.

“The end of imports will increase demand for domestic electricity production, increase the need to import more electricity from Sweden, and may decrease electricity exports to Estonia.”

Earlier this month, the Finnish branch of Russian nuclear power company Rosatom announced it would proceed with plans to build the Hanhikivi I nuclear power plant in Finland.

RAOS Project will develop the 1.2GW plant despite uncertainty over government permits following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

1 hour long

This is a lecture given by a Finn about the shaping of Russian thinking. It is a hour long but he really understands what the Russians are about.

Recommended if you are serious to learn about why Russians do what they do.

Lying and corruption are deeply embedded in their culture.

Given in Finn with English subtitles. Incidentally, it is said that a non-Finn can never learn to speak Finn.

No I dont but regardless of who is running it they are doing a fair job on Putin and the Russians. No reason to suspect that the Finns would do any worse.
I don't consider losing the economic war doing a fair job on Putin, the west is committing economic suicide. Absolutely no talk from the west about finding a resolution and ending this but instead the west is going all in on cutting our own throats. OPEC is not coming to our rescue and without cheap energy the west is F'd.

Turkey's leader opposes letting Finland, Sweden join NATO
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan says his country is “not favorable” toward Finland and Sweden joining NATO
By JARI TANNER and SUZAN FRASER Associated Press
13 May 2022, 12:47

WireAP_082c2491569d4bdeb7e56a5ed72366e1_16x9_992.jpg

HELSINKI -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Friday that his country is “not favorable” toward Finland and Sweden joining NATO, indicating Turkey could use its membership in the Western military alliance to veto moves to admit the two countries.

“We are following developments concerning Sweden and Finland, but we are not of a favorable opinion,” Erdogan told reporters.

The Turkish leader explained his opposition by citing Sweden and other Scandinavian countries’ alleged support for Kurdish militants and others whom Turkey considers to be terrorists.

He said he also did not want to repeat Turkey's past “mistake” from when it agreed to readmit Greece into NATO's military wing in 1980. He claimed the action had allowed Greece “to take an attitude against Turkey" with NATO's backing.

Erdogan did not say outright that he would block any accession attempts by the two Nordic nations. However, NATO makes all its decisions by consensus, meaning that each of the 30 member countries has a potential veto over who can join.

Russia’s aggression in Ukraine prompted Finland and Sweden to reconsider their traditions of military nonalignment. Public opinion in the two countries quickly started to shift toward favoring NATO membership after Russia invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24.

Should the two countries proceed on that path, it would represent a blow to Russia since President Vladimir Putin cited NATO's expansion near Russian territory as one of his justifications for invading Ukraine.

The White House said U.S. President Joe Biden held a call Friday with Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson and President Sauli Niinistö of Finland. Niinistö's office said the three leaders “shared a deep concern over Russia’s war on Ukraine.”

“President Niinistö went through Finland’s next steps toward NATO membership. President Niinistö told (Biden) that Finland deeply appreciates all the necessary support from the U.S.,” the office said in a brief statement.

A senior U.S. official said Washington would be seeking “clarification” about Erdogan’s comments and Turkey’s position when Secretary of State Antony Blinken meets his NATO counterparts, including the Turkish foreign minister, this weekend in Germany.

The top American diplomat for Europe, Karen Donfried, told reporters ahead of Blinken’s trip that the United States remains supportive of Finland and Sweden’s prospective NATO membership bids. She said the U.S. remains convinced the alliance is more united than ever before because of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Finland's president and prime minister said Thursday that they were in favor of rapidly seeking NATO membership, paving the way for the country to announce a decision in the coming days. Sweden’s governing Social Democratic Party, led by Andersson, is expected to reveal its decision Sunday.

Asked about Erdogan’s comments during a press conference in Helsinki, Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto said: “We need some patience in this type of process. It's not happening in one day. This is all what I can say at the moment. Let’s take issues step by step.”

The Finnish minister said he was likely to hold discussions with his Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Cavusoglu, at the NATO meeting in Berlin over the weekend. Cavusoglu spoke Friday with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, but Turkey's Foreign Ministry did not provide details.

Stoltenberg has said that Finland and Sweden, should they formally apply to join the world’s biggest security organization, would be welcomed with open arms.

The accession procedure could be done in “a couple of weeks,” several NATO officials have said, although it could take around six months for member countries to ratify the accession protocol.

Meanwhile, a report by the Swedish government on the changed security environment facing the Nordic country after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine says Moscow would react negatively to Sweden joining NATO and launch several counter-measures.

The Swedish government’s security policy analysis, which will be used as a basis for Andersson’s Cabinet to decide whether to seek membership in the Western military alliance, was presented to Swedish lawmakers Friday.

The report did not include a recommendation on whether or not Sweden should try to join NATO. But it pointed to NATO membership carrying a number of advantages for Sweden - above all the collective security provided by the 30-member military alliance.

At the same time, it lists numerous tactics Russia is likely to take in retaliation, including cyber-attacks, violations of Swedish airspace and threatening to use nuclear weapons.

I want our country to stay out of European problems. More than 200 years ago George Washington warned about getting involved in Europe, that was forgotten and where has getting involved gotten us since the early 1900's? This is a problem for Europe and I do not believe we should be involved and you can firmly disagree with my next statement and that's your right but I believe our involvement with NATO should have ended when the Warsaw Pact fell apart. EMERGENCY- Erdogan's vehement attack: He has put an ultimatum to NATO - "Fulfill my terms or I veto the Sweden-Finland accession"
They are "hostels of terrorists"

War News 24 / 7
13/05/2022 - 19:53

"We are not going to make a mistake a second time and sweden and finland will join NATO" and Turkey's President P.T.Erdogan has threatened to veto NATO and its member countries with a slap in the face against the West.

Erdogan has made it clear in every tone that he will veto NATO so that the two countries do not join unless it gets quid pro quo. The same image has been conveyed by Turkish media in the last few hours.

Erdogan noted that "Members of the PKK-YPG are even members of parliament in some countries", putting the Kurdish question on the table.

Erdogan demands:
  • To approve the sale and upgrade of the F-16
  • Start Turkey-NATO security negotiations for the Kurds
  • Sweden and Finland to oust PKK-YPG supporters
  • Us to allow a Turkish military operation on the territory of NE Syria
  • Not to exempt the territories of NE Syria from the US sanctions as announced by the US recently as this will mean the development of the area controlled by the Americans as well as a model of a Kurdish state.
Ankara often accuses Stockholm of hosting PKK leaders and organising high-level meetings with representatives of the PKK's Syrian arm, the People's Protection Units (YPG).

Turkish media point out that Sweden's foreign minister, Ann Linde, had visited high-ranking members of the PKK/YPG groups in northern Syria in 2021. See the picture at the end published by the Turks.

Sweden's foreign minister, Ann Linde, met with YPG representatives in 2020 causing an incident with Ankara. In addition, Linde sharply criticised Turkey's military operations in northern Syria during an official visit to Ankara. This had provoked a strong reaction from Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Çavuşoğlu in 2020.

Turkish media "recall" that Turkey previously blocked a NATO defence plan for the Baltic states in 2019 because of the Alliance's refusal to refer to the YPG as a terrorist group in its official documents. Ankara has taken a step back after some negotiations where NATO met some of the Turkish conditions in 2020.

Ankara also criticized Finland for imposing military sanctions against Turkey in 2019 over Turkey's operations against the YPG in northern Syria.

Erdogan for Finland and Sweden – I don't see their accession positively

Erdogan, referring to the possibility of joining NATO for the two Scandinavian countries, called them "hostels of terrorists" and stressed that "Sweden has become a home for the PKK and other terrorist groups. We do not see their nato membership positively."

The Turkish president said:

"We are currently monitoring the developments regarding Sweden and Finland for their accession to NATO but we are not in a positive mood.

Because previous Turkish governments were wrong with the case of Greece in the past, and approved its return to nato's military structure in 1980.

And now you know Greece's attitude towards Turkey, with the support of NATO.

As Turkey, we do not want to repeat a second mistake.

They are "hostels of terrorists"!

The Scandinavian countries, unfortunately, are 'hostels' of terrorist organisations.

PKK, DHKP-C are based in Sweden and the Netherlands.

I go even further to stress that the PKK and DHKP-C are represented in their parliaments as legislators/parliamentarians.

That is why we cannot have a positive view of Sweden's and Finland's accession to NATO"!

Erdogan furious and against US

Erdogan also reacted to the "general permission" given by the US to exempt from US sanctions the territories of northern Syria, including those controlled by the Kurdish YPG rebels, whom Turkey calls a "regional part of the PKK".

"I don't know what to say about Biden. Once we've seen all of Biden's data and accurate statements, then we'll reveal our stance. First of all, the YPG is a terrorist organisation and is the same as the PKK. It is not possible to accept this mistake of America.

America has given all kinds of financial support against the terrorist organization PKK, against all organizations in northern Syria. He sent equipment and ammunition with trucks. Now we hear about such things.

What we have done in northern Iraq, we will continue to do in northern Syria, regardless of who the PKK or the YPG is.

We cannot afford to close our eyes to terrorists; we say this to countries that seem friendly. You are wrong, take your steps right. We will analyse them in our future meetings,"
the Turkish president said.

On the same issue, Mevlut Çavuşoğlu reacted strongly yesterday, stressing that the lifting of US sanctions on the territories controlled by the YPG rebels in Syria is an attempt to legitimise a "terrorist group". At the same time, he calls the latest US move "biased, without objective criteria".

What Erdogan said about Mitsotakis' upcoming visit to the US

Meanwhile, the issue of the upgrade of 80 Turkish F-16s and the sale of 40 new fighter jets by the US to Ankara, has been in the news in recent days, on the occasion of the Wall Street Journal report, according to which the Biden administration has already asked Congress to approve – initially – the upgrade plan.

In this context, Tayyip Erdogan was asked to make his own comment in contact with Turkish journalists on Friday, on the occasion of the upcoming meeting between Joe Biden and Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Washington.

In particular, Erdogan was asked to comment on reports that want the Greek prime minister, during the visit to the US and the meeting with the US president, to try to prevent the delivery of the F-16s to Turkey.

On this question, Erdogan stated:

"Right now, there's no point in trying to get away and rely on assumptions. So I don't know what kind of statements Biden will make. Of course, the messages that Mitsotakis will send there are a separate issue. So we expect to see it all together, especially Biden's statements. After we see them, we will reveal our attitude."

The scenarios for a Turkish veto

According to the pro-government newspaper Yeni Safak, Turkey will consider the issue of Sweden's and Finland's accession to NATO in the light of not disturbing both the Alliance's structure and Turkey's national security, taking into account the potential security implications in the Baltic region.

Ankara's "condition", according to the newspaper, is for the security dialogue, which has been neglected for many years between Turkey and NATO, to increase and take into account Ankara's security concerns, especially in terms of the support given to what Ankara considers, terrorism.

Discussions to address Turkey's reservations have already begun by Western countries in order to secure Ankara's vote, which could bring positive quid pro quo, according to the Turkish newspaper.

USA: Turkey to clarify its position

The United States is trying to clarify Turkey's position on Sweden's and Finland's possible accession to NATO, the deputy foreign minister, in charge of European and Eurasian affairs, said today after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said earlier that Ankara does not support the two countries' request.

Speaking with reporters, Karen Donfried said the issue would be discussed at the NATO ministerial meeting to be hosted over the weekend in Berlin.

State Department: Sharp response to Erdogan

Earlier, the State Department said it strongly supports NATO's open-door policy, as well as the right of each country to decide on its own future, its own foreign policy and its security.

"We respect the political processes under way in both Finland and Sweden, and a decision to join NATO is a decision that will be taken sovereignly by these nations," hesaid.

"The United States would support a possible application from Finland and Sweden for NATO membership if it chooses to apply. We will respect any decision they make", he adds.

"We agree with Secretary General Stoltenberg that there is strong allied support for a possible application from Finland and Sweden. Both countries are close and valuable defence partners of the United States and NATO.

They are thriving democracies and have worked closely with NATO for many years; they would make our Alliance stronger and contribute to the security and stability of Europe,"
he explains and concludes that "Turkey is a key NATO ally and a crucial regional partner. We refer you to the Government of Turkey for questions about President Erdogan's comments."

Sweden and Finland to discuss with Turkey

"To discuss with Turkey", Sweden and Finland plan tomorrow, Saturday, in Berlin, after the contrary stance expressed by the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to the possible accession of the two Scandinavian countries to NATO.

Swedish Minister Anne Linde "will have the opportunity to discuss the possible Swedish candidacy" with her Turkish counterpart during an informal meeting of NATO ministers, to which Sweden and Finland are invited, she said in a statement to the French Agency.

"I hope that we will continue to have positive messages from all 30 NATO member countries. Many of the 30 allies have publicly expressed strong support for Sweden and Finland," he added.

"The Turkish government did not send us this kind of message directly," the head of Swedish diplomacy stressed.

During a press conference at the same time in Helsinki, Finnish Foreign Minister Peca Haavisto also announced his intention to "continue the discussion" with Turkish Minister Mevlut Çavuşoğlu.

"I think we need patience in these processes and this is not done overnight... Let's move forward step by step", he stressed, recalling that Finland has not yet officially announced its candidacy for NATO membership.

I suspect that Turkey will either accept a rather large if unofficial bribe or their days inside of NATO are numbered (and that might not be a bad thing, it has been leaning that way for years).
Except that with the attempted rise of Russia they occupy an incredibly strategic location.

It's official: Russia-S. Ossetia Union referendum on July 17 - War is coming with Georgia - What's next
It comes very "hot" summer

War News 24 / 7
13/05/2022 - 21:23

Columnist: Vassilis Kapoulas

South Ossetia has officially announced a union referendum with Russia. According to the decree published, the referendum on South Ossetia's accession to the Russian Federation will be held on 17 July.

WarNews247 had revealed this action, almost two months before. The development was expected after the dispatch of military forces of N. Ossetia on the side of the Russians in the war of Ukraine.

For days now, articles in Russian media have multiplied, referring to impending developments and mentioning the holding of a referendum.

This means that they follow:
  1. The whole "New Russia", i.e. from Kherson, Donetsk-Lugansk, that is, Donbass, to Kharkiv and Odessa
  2. Transnistria follows
Abahazia is not mentioned

Georgia's position is very difficult. To declare war on its own cannot, it does not have the military capabilities. It is not out of the question, however, that NATO will open a second front in Russia and start strengthening the Georgian army with weapons and equipment.

It is obvious that the Russian objective is to completely cleanse the Caucasus region of pro-NATO and pro-US governments. The first target was Armenia, which paid for the recriminations of its foreign policy and the flirtation with France-EU-US. It is now followed by Georgia.

The Russian target here too will be a federal state of Georgia fully controlled by Moscow. Perhaps that's why Abkhazia, the other autonomous region, was still out of the discussion.

One only has to look at the map to understand that South Ossetia is a Russian enclave that reaches just outside Tbilisi.
South Ossetia and Abkhazia are the two regions of the Caucasus that seceded from Georgia. Russia recognized their independence in August 2008, after the lightning war with Georgia. Since then, Russian forces have been permanently stationed in both of these areas.

Union referendum with Russia on 17 July

South Ossetia's President Anatoly Bibilov by decree set a referendum on the issue of the accession of democracy to Russia for July 17th.

"Guided by the historical desire of the people of the Republic of South Ossetia for reunification with Russia, in accordance with paragraph 16 of Article 50 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Ossetia, I decide:

to call a referendum of the Republic of South Ossetia on the question 'Do you support the unification of the Republic of South Ossetia and Russia?'

The date of the referendum is scheduled for 17 July 2022.

Earlier on Friday, Bibilov sent the documents for the referendum to the South Ossetia Supreme Court.
"Today, the CEC (Central Election Commission) unanimously supported the initiative to integrate South Ossetia into Russia. The documents were submitted to the court. We are waiting for the court's decision and our big dream will come true very soon," Bibilov wrote on his Telegram page.

‎According to him, Russia and South Ossetia are linked by a common history.‎

‎"This is not just a partnership or friendship. On the contrary, it is a relationship of trust between two brothers, where the older brother will always understand and support with words and deeds, and the younger one will honor and help the older one.‎

‎Now, fully aware of the self-sufficiency and equality of the rights of all, it's time to unite,"‎
‎ ‎
‎he notes.‎
‎What the new president of N. Ossetia said ‎

‎Once the time comes, South Ossetia is ready to hold a referendum on membership of the Russian Federation, the elected president of the republic, Alan Gaglov, said days ago but did not mention a specific date.‎

‎"The issue here is not that we have to unite, but with what kind of mechanism. We are well aware that in this situation not everything depends on South Ossetia.‎

We have a strategic ally – Russia – and on such important issues all steps must be taken in a coordinated manner,"
he said on the air of the Rossiya-24 TV channel.

Various reasons, most of which are improved.

Not Russia, Ukraine partially, but fully ZUSA.

I was just on there last week, to download Cyrillic

just the alert message.

I am posting the most pertinent parts, of the farewell addresses of two of the best POTUS, the ZUSA was fortunate to have.
They knew what would happen, and they tried to warn us.

President George Washington, “Farewell Address,” 1796

Why forego the advantages of so peculiar a situation? Why quit our own to stand upon foreign ground? Why, by interweaving our destiny with that of any part of Europe, entangle our peace and prosperity in the toils of European ambition, rivalship, interest, humor or caprice?
Washington’s Farewell Address, delivered September 17th, 1796

President Dwight Eisenhower, “Farewell Address,” 1961

But now we can no longer risk emergency improvisation of national defense; we have been compelled to create a permanent armaments industry of vast proportions. Added to this, three and a half million men and women are directly engaged in the defense establishment. We annually spend on military security more than the net income of all United States corporations.

This conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. The total influence-economic, political, even spiritual--is felt in every city, every State house, every office of the Federal government. We recognize the imperative need for this development. Yet we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. Our toil, resources and livelihood are all involved; so is the very structure of our society.

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.
Eisenhower’s Farewell Address, delivered January 17th, 1961

I have nothing further to say. If this POS country tries to have
another draft, I will be marching in the streets,
and will assist any kid to avoid the draft.

We were warned. And just like a hardheaded dumbarse kid,
we have ignored the warnings, and fully deserve what is coming.

Please be safe everyone.

Regards to all.

I have heard rumor that NATO is trying to send ships to the Black Sea.
They are already there...

That is from 2021 not 2022

The flagship of Standing NATO Maritime Group 2 entered the Black Sea on Thursday with two more alliance warships set to join the Sea Breeze exercises that started earlier this week, NATO announced.

Frigate ITS Virginio Fasan (F 591) passed through the Bosphorus headed for the Black Sea with a Turkish frigate and will join with a Romanian warship, according to ship spotters in Turkey.

“During [Fasan’s] deployment in the Black Sea, and after the joining of TCG Barbaros and ROS Regina Maria, SNMG2 will participate in bilateral U.S.-Ukraine exercise Sea Breeze,” reads a statement from NATO.

To date, NATO ships that have entered the Black Sea are the U.S. guided-missile destroyers USS Laboon (DDG-58) and USS Ross (DDG-71), French diving support ship FS Alizé A645, British guided-missile destroyer HMS Defender (D63), patrol vessel HMS Trent (P224) and the Dutch frigate HNLMS Evertsen (F805).

The recent ships’ transits into the Black Sea follow last week’s clashes between Russian military forces and Defender and Evertsen. While transiting the Black Sea off the coast of Crimea, Russian fighters and patrol vessels operated close to Defender while Russian forces warned the destroyer away from the vicinity of the coast, USNI News reported at the time.

Not every country in the world is run by deep state people lacking any concept of the modern world who where born in the Stone Ages.

"They not run by octogenarians!" isn't the flex you think it is ;)
That's correct (most especially when our own octogenarians are in full frontal view in the lights and cameras), but look at who they run to whenever they get their titties in a wringer (mostly due to their own silly policies, especially considering Sweden).

Finland has always seemed to exist independently and danced to their own drumbeat but my impression is that they're now being influenced by neighbors more than usual and are panicking themselves.

As if Finland would even be a threat to Russia - even considering Polyarnyy and Severmorsk (northern fleet hq)
