Has No Life - Lives on TB
Praying, asking the Lord to send the healing to you and your family, your doctor and his family, that Jesus already bought for you. Ya'll hang in there.

Thank you. We need it still. I am shocked at the level of exhaustion.

Y'all continue on in my prayers, as well as your doctor and his family. He sure sounds like a gem!

I have not had it (that I know of) yet, but several years ago I came down with a flu that took down all three of us, hard. I was utterly flattened for over a week and had it the worst. My husband and the young'un both had it bad but recovered quicker than I did. I'm in pretty good shape for my age, no co-morbidities or anything, and was active, but the exhaustion kicked my butt for well over a month. You are younger than me, so I'm hoping you will bounce back quicker, but do not push yourself, thinking something "has" to get done. Prioritize stuff. You can dig out later, you don't want a relapse.

Anyone that is or was on methylprednisolone, does it make you really jittery? Both fezzik and I are just super jumpy and jittery. Is that why?

I have been on them for 4 days and today is really jumpy

My husband acted different on prednisone than he did dexamethasone. On prednisone he swelled up and felt agitated, but he also had pneumonia. Years later after having cancer and brain surgery and all kinds of things he was on dexamethasone a lot and at first he would have so much energy and not be able to sleep. He actually after having brain surgery to take out 3 brain tumors and one the size of an egg, he could not sleep and I had no idea he was outside, but he went outside and worked on our car and fixed it. I woke up and found him out in the driveway and he had spent the whole night out there. After several years of trying to figure out why this car was overheating, he fixed it. I could not believe it.. He bought it for $300 and this woman had it at a shop and they told her what was wrong and would be over $1000, so he believed that shop and did what they said and fixed it himself, so did not cost $1000, but it never did run right and years later with dexamethasone giving him energy he figured it out, but later after being on more than a week he would start getting swollen face and he would be hungry all the time and start getting tired. So yes seroids will make you jittery.

I'm not a doctor! If you have major concerns, seek professional advice!

That said, when I feel that way and have been taking steroids, I have a protein snack, like eggs. Steroids can play hob with blood sugar, so if you aren't eating much, try to eat some easily digested protein. When I have the flu, that's eggs and later a little dry toast (which is protein bread, for me).

So good to see you posting again and feeling a little better. Prayers continue for you and yours as well as the Doc and his family. Keep thinking of all the antibodies you're going to have!

My Dr texted me to check on us.

His family is just dealing with some sinus congestion, but they are definitely on the mend!!! And he has no symptoms!!!! I am SO happy about that!!

Like Bob Wiley, fezzik and I are making baby steps to getting better. Please keep up the prayers.

A word of advice to anyone that gets this: it is shocking how easily one gets dehydrated. Stay up on it! Gatorade is key! You will be so sick of it, but it will save you. Between the nasty stomach, fevers, and constant sweating, it happens so quick. I am sucking down Gatorade like crazy this morning as I am again dehydrated. I caught it in time this time, so I don't think I need to go in, but just really be aware of it guys.

And too much Gatorade. It is causing diarrhea. The sugar

Cyberiot gave me an oral rehydration formula of

6 tsp sugar

1/2 tsp salt

5 c water

Hopefully that helps. If anyone else has a good rehydration formula with less sugar, please post.

I was able to eat a small roast beef sandwich, and have had some of the rehydration formula.

This sucks

Have you tried diluting the full sugar Gatorade by half with water? That's what I usually do in the summer when working outside - if I have to drink the sugar stuff. I try to buy the Gatorade Zero if I can get it but I know some folks can't deal with the fake sweeteners. And you guys probably do need some of the sugar right now.

Sadly, I cannot do the artificial sweeteners. I cannot do stevia, and any of the alcohol sugars either.

So far, the recipe cyberiot gave me is working. It's gross. But it's working lol

Keep praying please

Another complication. It has been weeks of eating almost nothing, and I started eating. It took a bit to figure out, but I'm pretty sure I have refeeding syndrome.

Long story that I do not want to get into, but I have had it before. Bad juju.

Please keep praying, guys

Will keep up prayers. Don't know what refeeding syndrome is, though.

ETA: I looked it up. Holy buckets! I didn't know there was such a thing! Even I could have had it as I had a stomach flu for about 6 days and wasn't eating much. Then I went back to pretty much normal eating. But I felt lightheaded and weak and my heart beat fast any time I was moving around. I attributed that to the days of not eating much. It could possibly have been from refeeding. Hmmmmmm....... hunybee, take care of yourself and get the electrolytes you need! Praying for you!

1) 'Roids and Glucose levels. YES, 'roids DO screw up glucose levels. RELIC was DISCHARGED after her last pneumonia stint with a glucose level between 1100 and 1400. Took us a couple of visits and some bitchen to get it within sight of 200.

2) Refeeding syndrome. TALK to your doc to make sure you can adjust your diet and get things under control. NASA doc I know was involved in the Peru Miners rescue and had to design their rescue diet. NONE of the miners were happy about the limits he put on their meals.
THIS IS NOT A JOKE (which if you have dealt with it before you KNOW!!)... DON'T blow this off.

Prayers continue.
