My grandmother made a pistachio jello with pineapple and chopped nuts. I think there was cream of some sort in it too.
My mom made that one to.. sometimes with coolwhip. (Or however it is spelled) Plum nasty. LOL And the other pudding one that had the pineapple chunks, maraschino cherries, miniature marshmallows, coconut, and a few more things. Mom always went all out on Thanksgiving, Christmas and s little less on Easter. 5 pies, 1 cake, both ham and turkey (for all 3 events!) They were always HUGE events. TONS, tons of food, but the main thing I remember is the making of all the sweet stuff, the jello and pudding junk. They just stand out in the memories. SMH

The pistachio one is sometimes called Watergate Salad, I think. The other one with the cherries, coconut, etc. is Ambrosia. There's also a version called Hawaiian Salad. I have to admit...I actually like these.

But that Spaghettio Jello mold...:kk2:

I've heard of some truly awful, obnoxious dishes from that era. I don't know how anybody even came up with some of them! It just goes to show, that just because you can do something doesn't necessarily mean that you should!

Seeing that Spaghetti Jello mold is the first time that I can remember turned me green when online.

My mom became infamous back in the late 1960's for her "Lime Jello Salad" with chopped celery and minced onion. IIRC there was also a middle green creamy layer, like some cream cheese was whipped in.

First time anybody tries it, is a bit of a shock, as in "what the hell is this, it's not what I expected"

Me? Never tried it.

I'm going to sign off early, for me, tonight. So, here's my 'Goodnight' meme. It's a Road sign on the main highway through my little hometown. It's been up about 10 or more years now. Less than a year after it went up, a car full of 'out-of-towners' stopped at the Mayor's office and demanded it be taken down. The Mayor walked them to the door and pointed down at the edge of the sidewalk where it met the road...and said, "See that? Hit it and don't come back. The sign stays up". I love my Little hometown...

Goodnight, Everyone!
