CHAT Hannity Talking About How Bad Christmas is gonna be....

ainitfunny

Saved, to glorify God.
I am certain the people whose Christmas is ONLY Santa Claus and have no appreciation of the fact that God loved us SO MUCH he actually set His Glory aside to humbly come down to live with His beloved creation, learn by experience what they are going through, a humility that caused the Creator of everything that is, then WASHED THE DIRTY FEET of his beloved children, and died to save and wash their souls with His own blood, well I can't help them if that doesn't impress them.

CELEBRATE? I think we celebrate the 4th of July with fireworks, we should have the biggest fireworks display EVER, EVERY CHRISTMAS, CELEBRATING FREEDOM FROM SIN AND DEATH!

I think I can...
I dunno. Aside from the usual hot toys every spoiled kid has to have (I never did that with my kids, they got cool stuff but refused to work that hard to get *that one*) I bet there'll be plenty. All the freaking out is just a way to get the shopping season going earlier than usual.

Here's a thought -- pass by the big-box stores and patronize your local shops. I'm sure they've got plenty of neat stuff to please the people on your shopping list.

Give me an orange and a peppermint and I will happy, just as my dad was.

Add in a slice of coconut cake made by his oldest sister and you have Christmas the way my dad enjoyed them, too. Because of growing up with oranges being only a holiday treat we always had bags of fresh oranges in our house when I was growing up and coconut cake was featured at every holiday and birthday. I guess mom's contribution was chocolate covered peanuts, which were a treat from her childhood.

On The Level
I'm seeing it now.
Have been out and about for a lot more appointments and business than in recent times. It's clearly visible things are collapsing. It's happening so slow people are getting used to it. And if something is obviously wrong, 'well it must be due to covid..'

It was relatively graffiti-less around here a few years ago. Now it's popping up all over town, especially main roadways.

Everything looks trashed and dingy. The new businesses that have popped up in the places of former long term institutions (restaurants, cafes, corner stores) look cheesy and like they won't be around long.

Went to cemetery to check on my Dad's grave. They used to have trash barrels all over this old majestic city cemetery. None now. There was a pile of garbage several feet from his grave. Mostly just cemetery junk, old bouquets, plants in plastic baskets, ornamental type stuff, some masks and gloves. But there were piles of this crap all over. There were big plastic barrels down there for decades. Who knows wtf is up now.

It's like college ghetto in the old neighborhood near downtown. It's always been low income kind of rough dirt bags. Now it looks like almost homeless college kids hanging out.

Finally went to my old standby snack bar burger fries and ice cream place. Have been maybe 4 times since January 2020. The quality of the food, the sizes of the food, the service, attitude, just sucked. Sucked any joy I might have had from grabbing lunch out. Automated, touchless, scanner ketchup dispensers, they hand you your straw and napkins rather than having a serving area, f*cking plexiglass everywhere, and it was $21 ($2 tip included) for two hot dogs, a pint of fries, diet coke, and a chocolate ice cream cone with sprinkles. They've got tip bins now, that's new too, they didn't take tips for decades.

Family member wanted to know, 'Why are there no paper plates or disposable cups?' Same family member got a new battery in their old Chrysler today, $245 installed. Starting to notice maybe.

Had to wait an additional 2 days for my 90 day prescription to filled last week.

Another family member is flying south to pick up a used vehicle to replace the one that was totaled in June. Hasn't been able to find anything locally and a church friend from years ago connected him with someone selling in NC.

My mother told me, before she passed away, that getting an orange for Christmas was a rare treat.

She grew up during the Great Depression. Became a Navy Wave during WWII.

When I was a boy growing up, Christmas was a very big deal. I now realize that she was trying to make up for the Christmas she never had as a girl.

My mil was emotionally scarred for life from the Great Depression. Later on I found boxes of dusty old glass jars she had carefully cleaned just in case she might have a use for them. She told me tales as a young girl her family would send her to the state welfare office for food handouts and how shamed she was.

Getting an orange for christmas was a treat for us, it was simply too expensive at the local grocery store to have year round.

wanna share that coconut cake recipe?

I was always ashamed of the largesse at Yuletide. Raised by Depression Era parents who finally made it, but I would have been happy with an orange and a peppermint.
What they are doing to this Nation is criminal.

After all these years, I still love this song.

If all these forecasts come true, Black Friday will be somewhat of a disappointment to the retail businesses. Then comes the store closures, then the unemployment really explodes and tempers get short. My goodness what a joyous New Year is in store for us heh?

When I was a kid we went to Christmas eve service at church. They gave us a fairy good size bag full of mixed still in the shell nuts, an orange or two and I am talking good ones not this modern garbage, an apple, and a couple candy bars. There may have been a few other things but its been a few years, lol. Miss those days.

There won't be any food in the stores by black friday... the annual walmart gladiator games should be glorious this year.

In times of plenty, the hoodrats celebrate the birth of their risen lord by denting their neighbor's skull for a piece of shit blender, can you imagine the effort they will put into claiming the only remaining box of Mac n cheese?

Sadly I remain unvaxxed and won't be permitted to join the in person spectators. If any of y'all decide to attend, please post video.

Our family generally uses holidays and birthdays as a reason to purchase necessary items for one another. Practical gifts are good. My birthday is the only time of the year I get clothes. Honestly, I just turned 30 and I've come to the conclusion that time spent with family and a special meal is the best part of the 'gift-giving', not material things.

If everyone would use the lack of "stuff" as incentive to teach their children and remind themselves of the real meaning of Christmas then this crisis would have served a useful purpose. There is something very special about Christmas Eve candlelight services that I absolutely love. And the children's Christmas program is so sweet.

This is a time when the tone set by the parents will have a huge influence on how the family copes with the changes. Its absolutely necessary to be positive and honest. Explain this is going to be a different Christmas and make it a time to start new traditions. Spend the time drawing your family close. Have cocoa and popcorn while playing games together. Have dad read aloud The Night Before Christmas and other Christmas stories. Helping each other make Christmas gifts to share or suggest regifting something, Read the Christmas story from the Bible (Luke chapter 2) while sitting around the Christmas tree on Christmas morning. Singing Happy Birthday to Jesus is a good memory for young children. If you have teenagers, sit them down and have an honest conversation with them about the situation and enlist their help to make the holidays special for younger siblings. Ask for their input and LISTEN to what they say.

We always made a point of not overdoing gifts partly because we could not afford to and also did not want our kids to be so focused on gifts they forgot what Christmas was about. They usually got one item they wanted and the rest would be clothing, books, puzzles, craft kits, crayons etc. One year I made the girls each a robe and p.j.'s for Christmas. We could not afford new dolls for the girls so I used scraps from their p.j.'s and robes and other clothing I'd made earlier to make doll clothes to match. That is a Christmas they seem to recall the gifts from more than any other.
