Ill Imm "Thank you for your service"

When I wear my cap identifying me as a military veteran, I occasionally get a "Thank you" from a passerby. These are mostly from older citizens. There seems to be a decrease in these acknowledgements as age decreases. Of course the younger folk don't remember the "Great America" in which I grew up or what it took to keep it great.

But the point I want to make in this post is that no matter what the age, I have never received a "Thank you" from a Latino immigrant or one of the many Indians who are now monopolizing the hotel and convenience store businesses. If it were not for those who fought to preserve our freedoms, these people would not be able to come to our country so freely.

I got to talkin' with the Indian (East) owner of a local Subway. We'd been discussin' the fires that'd hit our area and I mentioned that while rakin' through the ashes of my house, about the only things of any consequence I found were a CIB and PH, both with all the enamel burned off. When I showed 'em to him, he told the staff that my order was on the house and they all thanked me.
YMMV

Like the illegal behind me who has 3 kids with a local white girl and flies the Mexican flag on the front of his house. It’s insulting! They just take and think they are entitled…

I never thought about it that way. But you are absolutely correct.

They don't understand/appreciate the sacrifice of military service as this is a foreign country to them.
That don't sound like the Canuck who was the medic in one unit I was with. Granted, he was a honky, but a furriner nonetheless. He'd been goin' to school in SoCal and worried about the draft, so joined up rather than go back to Canada.

My resp tech was Spanish 1SGT equivalent. As a combat person, he had a slightly different approach. "If the shells are flying over your head AND MINE, we're brothers hence forth."
