OP-ED The UN Security Council is about to vote on a “Palestinian State”

(OPINION) Why are they being so quiet about this? On Friday, the UN Security Council will take a vote which will determine whether or not “the State of Palestine” will be granted full UN membership.

If this vote is successful, it will formally create a Palestinian state that the international community will fully recognize. So this is a really big deal. Algeria is the nation that has put this draft resolution forward, and it is scheduled for a vote at 3 PM Eastern time on Friday afternoon…

The United Nations Security Council is scheduled to vote Friday on a Palestinian request for full U.N. membership, said diplomats, a move that Israel ally the United States is expected to block because it would effectively recognize a Palestinian state.
The 15-member council is due to vote at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT) Friday on a draft resolution recommending to the 193-member U.N. General Assembly that “the State of Palestine be admitted to membership of the United Nations,” diplomats said.

It is being projected that 13 of the 15 members of the Security Council could vote in favor of this resolution. So Israel is counting on the Biden administration to veto it…

A council resolution needs at least nine votes in favor and no vetoes by the U.S., Britain, France, Russia, or China to pass. Diplomats say the measure could have the support of up to 13 council members, which would force the U.S. to use its veto.

Just think about this for a moment. The only thing standing in the way of a Palestinian state is Joe Biden. Of course, he wants a Palestinian state to be established, but he wants it to happen due to peace negotiations.

And after the current war in the Middle East is concluded, there will be an all-out push to achieve that goal. For now, the war in the Middle East is poised to go to a dangerous new level.
Israel is preparing to retaliate against Iran, and Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi is promising that even the “slightest action” by Israel will provoke a “painful response”…

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has warned Israel it will face a “painful response” if it takes the “slightest action” in response to Iran’s unprecedented drone and missile barrage against the Jewish state over the weekend.

Iran’s first-ever direct attack on Israel on the night of Saturday-Sunday came in response to an April 1 air strike on Tehran’s embassy compound in Damascus that has been widely blamed on Israel.

So, what would that “painful response” look like? Well, Raisi has also said that “nothing would remain from the Zionist regime” after Iran was finished…

Raisi said Saturday’s attack was a limited one but that “nothing would remain from the Zionist regime” should it escalate the current situation, the official IRNA news agency reported.

He is describing an all-out war. Right now, government billboards in Tehran ominously declare that “Tel Aviv is our battleground.” The Iranians are known for their bold talk, but I don’t think they are bluffing in this case.
I believe that they really will try to hammer Israel if there is any attack on Iranian soil, and one Iranian official is even warning that his nation is “prepared to use a weapon that we have never used”…

But Iranian security chief Abolfazl Amouei last night warned that if Israel does respond then Tehran is “prepared to use a weapon that we have never used”.

It is unclear what weapon Amouei was referring to, but he warned Israel to “act wisely” as it considers its next steps. There has been a lot of debate about how hard the Israelis should hit Iran.

But the truth is that Iran is going to strike back really hard no matter what form the attack takes. And it appears that a decision has already been made. In fact, on Wednesday, British Foreign Secretary David Cameron openly admitted that it is “clear the Israelis are deciding to act”. (READ MORE)

Or they force the Pale state then have legal grounds to go in and make Israel comply, or try to anyway.

So the UN--by fiat--is about to say to Israel--

"Even though we previously voted to recognize the State of Israel, we are now taking that back and formally deciding to TAKE part of your land and give it to your ENEMIES, who have utterly REFUSED all offers of peace/negotiation you have given them in the past (i.e, Yassir Arafat refusing it even when Israel AGREED to EVERYTHING the Pali's WANTED) and despite the fact that we know those SAME ENEMIES have said the ONLY acceptable solution to you is that your nation CEASE TO EXIST."

There are warnings in a certain Book from a certain all-powerful Entity about what He will do to those who "divide MY land" (it ultimately is always described as HIS land, not Israel's--to give to whomever HE chooses).

Ok then... as soon as the UN votes for a new nation of "Palestine" Israel should formally declare war on it, then promptly conquer the territory.

As for Iran -- if it were me, I'd say Israel should call the Iranian missile & drone attack a fair reply for its attack on the Iranian embassy personnel and let it be. Tit for tat and done.

IF by some chance you somehow get clear meaningful responses to those legitimate queries, I'm pretty sure everyone here wants to know.
I'll try:

1) The world body supports it because it can interfere in US policy. Note the WHO during Covid 19. Where as the world body as individual countries cannot. O and BTW the US pays for it. Like wearing a sign that says "Kick Me".

2) The land the UN sits on, it owns, not rented, or leased. OWNES. Given to the UN by Rockefeller. And while the federal government may want to kick you off of the land you own, they wouldn't dare do that to the UN. Imagine Karen's screaming from coast to coast, and the children will starve.

Don't know if that hit the mark or not.

I was already there so it would seem we're on the same side of that ledger.

I was hoping for some clarification on why the US, through a variety of allegedly different Administrations, tolerated such a divisive, radicalising entity to remain on CONUS.

Cool!

'Sides no one from a 3rd world country wants to go to another 3rd world country for a conference.

Go to NYC steak, wine, hookers, good for business.

FYI, the prefix GOV/MIL is for American government or military actions. Further, at the start of the story, “OPINION. is clearly stated. Thus, the prefix should be OP-ED. I’ll change it. Please keep this in mind moving forward.

Thanks!

‘State of Palestine’ could be recognized by UN General Assembly on Friday

UAE expected to submit resolution to upgrade member status

The United Arab Emirates is expected to submit a resolution at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) to recognize the “State of Palestine” this Friday, the Jerusalem Post reported Thursday morning.
According to the draft of the resolution: “Palestine is qualified for membership in the United Nations in accordance with Article 4 of the Charter and should therefore be admitted to membership in the United Nations.”
The text also affirms “the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, including the right to their independent State of Palestine.”
Currently, the Palestinian delegation only has observer status in UNGA. The UAE’s resolution is expected to receive majority support in the assembly, where around 140 nations have already independently recognized a Palestinian state in resolutions that cannot be vetoed.
However, the only way to become a full member state of the UN is through a vote in the Security Council, where the United States has blocked similar advances in the past, most recently in April.
“Recognizing a Palestinian State after October 7 means rewarding Hamas for murdering over 1,000 Israelis. It means giving a prize to the Iranian Regime,” Israel’s Foreign Minister Israel Katz charged in a post on .
“The only way to promote peace is through direct negotiations, within the framework of a regional normalization process,” he added.
Israeli officials strongly rejected the possibility of recognizing a Palestinian state over the past months, after the Palestinian Authority (PA) renewed its push to reach full recognition in the UN, as well as by individual states following Hamas’ invasion and massacre last October.
Oren Marmorstein, Israel's Foreign Ministry spokesman, wrote last week that “every statement about the possibility that European countries will recognize a Palestinian state is a prize for Hamas terrorists.”
“The world including Europe should currently focus solely on the immediate release of the 133 women and men taken hostage and on the destruction of the Hamas terror organization. Anyone promoting a different agenda at this time is playing into the hands of Hamas and is hindering efforts to reach a deal on releasing the hostages and humanitarian relief,” Marmorstein added.
In February, the Israeli government rejected unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state by other nations in a rare unanimous vote, following reports that the Biden administration was weighing such a move to pressure Israel in the hostage release negotiations with Hamas.
“Israel utterly rejects international diktats regarding a permanent settlement with the Palestinians. A settlement, if it is to be reached, will come about solely through direct negotiations between the parties, without preconditions,” the declaration read.
“Israel will continue to oppose unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state. Such recognition in the wake of the October 7th massacre would be a massive and unprecedented reward to terrorism and would prevent any future peace settlement.”
The decision to reject the proposal was agreed upon by all Israeli cabinet members, including the more left-leaning National Unity party ministers like Gadi Eisenkot.
The first bid for recognition of statehood in the UN was launched by PA President Mahmoud Abbas in 2011. With a two-thirds majority, the UNGA gave “State of Palestine” the status of a non-member observer state the following year, in 2012.
Since then, the PA has been allowed to participate in UN forums and sign treaties, including the Rome Statute, which gave it access to the International Criminal Court. ‘State of Palestine’ could be recognized by UN General Assembly on Friday

Was Jorden given as a land to those Arabs displaced in the original establishment of the Jewish state?
Jordan annexed the West Bank, including East Jerusalem after the 1948 Arab-Israeli War.

The Palestinians were granted their own state in the same U.N. resolution that created the Jewish stare.
