They were capture, ergo someone stopped them. Don't get me wrong, I completely agree that as horrific as this whole thing is, there are typical hallmarks that we're used to seeing. Some of them are missing, and I also wonder why.

The official death toll from Russian authorities in the wake of Friday's terror attack on a Moscow concert hall has reached 133 killed, with some unofficial reports saying there could be as many as 140 or more. As the scene continues to be processed and investigated, and given some of the hospitalized are in critical condition, the death toll is likely to rise. Over 150 were wounded in the attack, which involved a group of well-equipped attackers sporadically shooting into crowds as they walked through the mall and into the concert hall. Three children are still in the hospital, with one in critical condition.
The mall and complex at the Crocus City Hall music venue appears to have burned for many hours through the night. Russia's Investigative Committee later said more bodies were recovered from be smoldering building. Importantly, authorities on Saturday announced the capture of four suspected gunmen, also amid unconfirmed social media videos purporting to show some of the detained alleged gunmen.

Eleven people total have been detained connected with the terror attack which the Federal Security Service (FSB) has said includes "four terrorists who were directly involved in the terrorist attack on Crocus." They are not Russian nationals, security services said.
After the Friday night rampage at the venue just outside Moscow, "the perpetrators tried to escape by car, fleeing towards the Russian-Ukrainian border," the FSB said Saturday "The criminals intended to cross the Russia-Ukraine border and had relevant contacts on the Ukrainian side," the FSB statement alleged.
The four alleged gunmen were detained "not far from the border with Ukraine". This has raised suspicion in the Kremlin over Ukraine's involvement, despite the widespread media reports in the West that it was ISIS-K. As we noted earlier, Russian media has not echoed the Western reports highlighting an ISIS-K statement of responsibility.
Instead, in addressing the crisis President Vladimir Putin has vowed to punish the perpetrators of the barbaric terrorist act while also charging that Ukraine prepared a "window" to help the terrorists escape.
At one point during the five-and-a-half minute video address, Putin said: "All perpetrators, organizers and customers of this crime will suffer fair and inevitable punishment. Whoever they are, whoever guides them. I repeat, we will identify and punish everyone who stands behind the terrorists, who prepared this atrocity, this attack on Russia, on our people."
Putin then added: "The Federal Security Service of Russia and other law enforcement agencies are working to identify and uncover the entire accomplice base of terrorists: those who provided them with transport, outlined escape routes from the crime scene, prepared caches, caches of weapons and ammunition."
"The main goal now is to prevent those who are behind this bloodbath from committing new crimes," the Russian leader stressed.
But both Washington and Kiev have been quick to reject any narrative of Ukraine's involvement. White House spokesman John Kirby said Friday, "The images are just horrible. Just hard to watch, and our thoughts obviously are going to be with the victims of this terrible, terrible shooting attack," before emphasizing that there's "No indication at this time that Ukraine or Ukrainians were involved in the shooting."

My housemate and others have said what John Galt FLA (a former member here) is saying. This just wasn't like a standard ISIS type of operation. It was, and for some reason, they wanted these guys alive (like another attack), or something very fishy was happening. The usual Jihadi/ISIS plan is to fight to the death and get your 72 Virgins. They may HAVE had reasons for wanting these guys alive, but they had to know how unlikely they would make it out. I was surprised some of them got as far as they did.
I also noticed the attempts to show that so-and-so is the same as these pictures show guys with their faces covered or hard to see. That looks less than convincing. But even if ISIS (or an ISIS clone) did play some role in this, that might not be the entire story.

The four terrorist gunmen responsible for the attack were tracked as they fled Moscow and captured in the Bryansk Region of Russia. They were traveling by car southeast away from Moscow toward the border with Ukraine. According to interrogation video {LINK} two of the suspects claimed to be from Tajikistan and were recruited by an unidentified entity in Turkey to carry out the attack.
The claim is they were living in a hostel near north Moscow and were paid $5,000 each (500,000 rubles) to carry out the attack. They were provided the weapons in the Moscow suburb, with instructions to drive southeast to Ukraine for safe harbor after the attack. If accurate and/or truthful, each of these elements creates a datapoint for the Russian intelligence apparatus to identify the source.
The fact that they were captured alive, indicates the people/entity who organized and directed their terror mission wanted them to be captured alive. The fact they were instructed to head to Ukraine, indicates the people/entity who organized their terror mission wanted them to be intercepted en route to Ukraine.
Unfortunately, there are a myriad of mutually aligned interests who would benefit by provoking Russia into the type of retaliation that can provide them benefit. That’s why we should wait to assemble more information.
The primary geopolitical players who might organize and benefit from the terror attack would be, USA, Ukraine, Turkey and Israel, or a combination therein. Each nation has an independent motive that aligns with the larger objective to draw Russia into a bigger conflict with the “West.”
Whoever told the terrorists to seek safe harbor in Ukraine, wanted to give Russian President Putin the publicly pressuring impression that Ukraine was involved. This is a big datapoint that must be overlaid against the interests of those who organized the attack.
While the Muslim Brotherhood does not like Vladimir Putin at all, the organizer of this attack was not likely to be ISIS-K as the media keep saying.
