GUNS/RLTD What's A Glock SWITCH? Why Everyone QUIET About It? (OPJuly 2023)

Would *I* Lie???
Here's a video of a gangbanger popping off 15 rounds in about 1 second at some strong armed robbers in a BUSY mall..

run time 4:52, most is commentary on self defence (The ASP channel is a good daily video on shootings and self defense.. I'm sure many of us here watch it..) Most the action between 0:40 and 1:40.

I watch John almost every day. He does a new video everyday and about twice a week two come out in 24hrs. Great commentary and only seeen him be wrong about 2 or 3 times.. the comment section usually tunes him up though and I have seen him do a "re do" of a video he got sooo wrong before it was funny, Great tips though, I watch it with the gf who is new to EDC.

This is a 3-position setup for the AR15. Push button from safe to fire with a middle position that provides active trigger reset. Kind of like a binary trigger. The link is for the page where they share their files for 3D printing or machining the device.

"Keep and bear arms" has already been so infringed...this would be just one more step and would hopefully reach the SC who would hopefully rule it unconstitutional which MIGHT be step in the direction of getting the NFA also ruled unconstitutional and unwind all of this crap back to "shall not be infringed". I know...just wishful thinking possibly.

Me: Is that a Glock?

Every LEO that I've met: Yeah.

Me: I'm sorry.

It's an easier conversation to have when you meet LEO's in your place of business. I endeavor to stay out of their way whilst on duty. Seems to be working so far.

Either way, Glocks suck.

If you want a plastic firearm, buy a Hi Point. And spend the savings on ice cream for your kids.
Over the next year or two...

So WTH is a glock switch?

Blocks the hammer when it's turned sideways, so Tyrone is screwed after he steals yo gat?
More like Tyrone switched out your glock for his 6 banger Taurus when he distracted you by having his scantily clad damsel in waiting walk in looking all fine and black in her still sweat dripping stripper outfit, thinking you won't notice.

A. Glocks are fine.
B. Most cops didn't carry them in the 90's until they became cool and FBI certified.
C. Have more than one firearm so you don't stress it.

Glock basically killed the prior big agency/police standard automatic, the S&W 59 series and pushed everything else metal framed into a corner.

I remember when a gun store owner (in Cali) told me about all the Freds who got shot down by two perps in a big gunfight. It was the first or second Line of Duty shows. He convinced me to buy a 40. Have that Glock for a few decades now. Have a little Taurus ladysmith hammerless. I have several long guns; my prize is the M1 Garand, courtesy of the US army Civilian Marksmen program of yesteryear before billy clinton had most of the remainder crushed. Same type my dad and a few of my dead uncles carried against the Germans. It's a beaut. Got 500 rounds and several clips for that one. I really don't expect to use it in anger. But dog gone it, it's there............................. That comment made me feel like an old Swede in a John Ford John Wayne cowboy and Indian flick.

At this stage of my life, and based on prior life experiences, for me it really depends more on situational awareness, personal 'feelings' ala 'spidy senses' and just dumb luck. If you have the money for the best go for it. I've never felt that way. I depended on my side knife for many years whilst hitch hiking along the byways, and the high ways, like the old song said, and the lyrics I lived with and by for several wonderfully adventurous years. I felt safe enough with that, and my attitude when hitching.

I'm armed. I'll go with that. But I still like looking into it. A big fifty to take out vehicles from half a mile away would be fun to own though, even if it never got used. For that. ;)

Hello Mr. G. Good to see you again. I spent a long time lurking. I always appreciated your steady steersman ship when you were at the helm.

I am a big 1911 fan. My favorite carry is a Kimber Ultra Carry II.

Having said that. If I pop a cap in some idiot the cops are going to take my pistol, for years as it clears the courts. I would carry a Glock Gen 5, because they finally made one that fit my hand. But my EDC is a Shield. Cops want it? Ok. I won't cry when it comes back 4-5 years later beat to shit.

I have a Colt Gold Cup National Match in polished stainless. It’s only ever had about 50 rds down the pipe. Total safe queen, because it’s a work of art. Getting it all banged up would crush me. My EDC is that SP101 revolver with a Hogue grip. 2 ½” barrel. No ejected brass, which these days might be very important. Before I came to Texas, it was a S&W 4006. Too big and heavy for Texas summers.

I carry a Para Limited, in stainless.

Two schools of thought on this one.

Carry something that may be detained?

Carry something that works for me?

Yes, it's gonna get beat up, just part of the job.

I figure if I have to use it, it did it's job. That was money well spent.

I got the same for the wife, SP-101 357 Mag for her EDC. A fine revolver.

Oh, I get that, and the Shield does the job as well. So I have choices and make them.

NYS is looking to ban Glocks and probably all semi auto pistols because they are “readily convertible” to fully auto. I’ve been thinking that the Feds have been ignoring Glock switches intentionally so it can be used against us and I was right.

I need stainless, everything else I've carried doesn't deal with sweat.

Even with stainless, I bed the grips in heavy grease. This slows down the rust.

I have noticed that all these switches end up in hands of blacks and now that I posted that someone will make sure some crazy white person will get one.
One of the videos shows someone firing a full auto pistol and having the magazine fall out, I had that happen to me firing a 1911 that had some modifications made to it like a extended mag release button and this may work for a right handed people, but for left handed person like me it will not as my fingers will depress that extended button every time I pick it up, best to stick to the stock mag release button it works just fine.

This chingadera is on the slide.

The slide comes off for those carbine conversion things.

Not for the CAA MCK Micro Conversion Kit and its cousins.... (yeah I know I'm necromancing the post. :) ) All you'd need to do to get the most out of it would be to add a longer barrel and an optic/red dot. Yeah it isn't a built for purpose PDW but it fits that niche to a degree, when it's not being a "range toy". 4 Best Glock Conversion Kits 2024

ETA: With this CAA system, that "switch" would require a mod that I think would be a problem. That being said, if used as a PDW, the user would likely be better served with a better trigger on the used pistol to allow for faster manipulation as opposed to an "auto switch". "Aimed fire" vs "spray and pray"....

Just asking, but have you thought of training right-handed as well?

Yeah. It always comes down to cost and injection molded polymer tech had advanced enough to cut a lot of costs. That being said, the S&W M&P offerings do so more elegantly than the Glock.

If you look at the guts of an FN 1910 (John Browning's work again) and compare it with that of a Glock or any other striker fired pistol currently on the market, aside from caliber and polymer frames vs steel (also a grip safety) there isn't much really separating them.

I can and have playing around but I'm left handed to the point that it's imposable to do well at right hand things but have adapted to using right handed items like fishing reels! I'm in my 60s now and as a kid left handed reels were very costly and had to be special ordered so I learned to cast the rod left hand and switch to the right hand to retrieve the fishing line and I'm so use to doing that way I cannot change.
Rifles and Shotguns I have to see how the butt shock is made and some long guns I cannot use because of how the stock is made, but right hand bolt action shotguns and rifles I can operate faster than most right handed people can. I'm slow with pump actions and again the butt stock needs to be right for me to use! Can't be canted or have the roll over on the comb, plain mont decarlo style is ok.

i had a glock 21 did not really like how it felt in my hand . i do like a s&w m/p 45 shield way better .i like a m/p 9 shield for edc a hogue grip helps to fit my hand ...anyway i am of the school of slow is smooth and smooth is fast .so no bump stocks .or fancy triggers .

I bought some kind of Glock gen 3 clone a couple years ago, it has a grip that's halfway tolerable to me, unlike the Glocks.
It came with the lower disassembled, new in the box. Whatever the firm was that made it, that was their deal. Probably why it was inexpensive.
Anyway, if you understand the lower assembly of a Glock, then making a "switch" is obvious. Not sure what purpose a full auto handgun would serve that a 12 gauge pistol wouldn't serve better though.
