My DH takes various meds throughout the day. At night he takes Tramadol and 30 mg CBD right before bed. He started Ozempic four weeks ago and he is loosing weight We are eating low carb and he needs to eat something when he takes his night time pills. He was taking saltine crackers and a small glass of milk, then he switched to sugarfree jello and three crackers. This worked for a while but now it is not working and he gets nausea after taking his night time pills.

His stomach growls and rumbles throughout the day also, not due to hunger. Any suggestion that can ease his rumbling growling stomach and something lowcarb to settle his stomach at night? He refuses to drink any type of tea.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

It's probably the Ozempic. With some folks, it takes a while for their systems to adjust to it. Might want to hold off on raising the dosage for a couple weeks.

I have a good friend who is taking it and well...it can be "different'. And in some cases, after a good try at it, some people just can't tolerate it.

Adding: Truth be told, my friend has never gone past the initial 1/4 dose, and after dropping 15-20 lbs, nipped her Type II in the bud with her weight right on target. Never needed anymore. Everybody reacts differently to the stuff...this gal not being quite the typical Type II . Her pancreas got fried 30 years ago by an intense hit of chemo and radiation for breast cancer, and they predicted she might have complications down the road from such radical treatment - but hey, it rooted out the cancer.

Yes, he is still on the lowest dose. He is very sensitive to meds. He can put up with the growling tummy, it is the nausea with the night pills that keeps us up.

Have you talked to your doctor about it?
Not yet, I am hoping for a more natural remedy. His Dr. will just prescribe a pill and I was hoping to resolve it without the use of a pill. That may not be possible but I want to give it a try first. We are in a small town with zero choice in Dr.'s. The Dr.s we do have go by the "give them a pill for whatever ales you" medical practice.

Do a search on the web and MAKE SURE that there are no conflicts or interactions between all his meds. Drug Interaction Checker When I did this with my FIL's meds I found EIGHT serious interactions....some to the point that two meds should NEVER be taken together and several other minor conflicts. If your husband has more than one doctor - MAKE SURE they are talking to each other on his care. Doctors rarely talk to each other or know what the other doc's are prescribing.

With my FIL I basically laid down the law that he was not to receive ANY meds that his Primary Care Physician did not know about and approve. Dad had some serious medical issues, i.e.: Parkinsons, COPD, Congestive Heart Disease, Pre-Cancerous skin disease, bad knees....etc. He'd lived a hard life physically in construction and when DW and I started to take care of him he was on OVER TWENTY different medications. We got that down to just FIVE or SIX every day meds and one PRN med. (PRN = as needed). Plus I spaced out his meds throughout the day and we got his dosages lowered to a tolerable, yet still effective levels. Obviously he had been SERIOUSLY over medicated and none of his doctors knew what the others were prescribing. They tend to stay in their little kingdoms and don't venture outside much. This change drastically improved his quality of life.

Like I told Dad, once a day does not mean ALL AT ONCE.

Hope this helps.

P.S. Every body is different. What one body tolerates, another might not. You mentioned your hubby is very sensitive to medications. You might have to try alternatives until you find what he will tolerate comfortably and still be effective. BEST OF LUCK!

I understand. It can be a terrible merry-go-round of needing another prescription to counter the side effects of a med, then another for the new pill, etc.

With so many meds, herbals are contraindicated. It makes it so difficult. Prayers for you both.

I can’t take Ozempic or Mounjaro or any of the once a week diabetic meds. Some people can’t because it slows stomach emptying significantly … to the point it could damage the vagus nerve permanently. I already have gastroparesis … that the nerve damage … though mine was due to a systemic septic shock last year.

Talk to his endocrinologist immediately. You do not want gastroparesis. It is potential side effect of both Ozempic use and diabetes. The stomach making noise without hunger could mean that it can’t empty properly.

Check with doctor. For us, Moroccan Mint tea by Numi helps a lot with similar issues. It is a specific form of spearmint. And so far, for us, does not have the reflux problem.

Probiotics will help with this problem. Many meds kill the normal organisms in our gut and you can replace them with a good probiotic. Helps with bowel problems like loose stool, urgency, and incontinence.
